Pay Rate Starting at: $22.65/ hr training rate of pay for freezer selectors. Upon completion of training, rate of pay for freezer selectors starts at $25.45.
Rates of pay are determined by labor contract seniority.
SUMMARY
The mission of all Tops associates is to adhere to the Tops vision of providing a friendly neighborhood store that saves the customer time and money. A Selector works individually selecting full case grocery/perishable/frozen items from pick slots. The selector fits these items on a pallet, plastic wraps the bundles, completed pallets, and stages for loading. A voice system is used to direct generalists to the locations where each case of product will be picked. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A Generalist Trainee will be provided with instruction, training and safety information to be able to perform the following:
  • Ensure accuracy of work and adherence to production and safety standards.
  • Listen to the voice system to find individual items within warehouse
  • Remove full case(s) of product from storage rack and place on pallet
  • Maneuver pallet on an electric pallet jack until full or order is complete
  • Ensure item pick accuracy and safety of product to prevent damage
  • Inform supervisor of any discrepancies in case quantity and/or product description
  • Manually wrap the pallet by circling load with roll of plastic wrap until secure
  • Load bundles onto trucks with the pallet jack
  • Operate heavy equipment
  • Other duties may be assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to work weekends varying shifts

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions
  • Possess basic computer skills
  • Possess strong communication skills
  • GED recommended but not required
  • 6-12 months of warehouse experience recommended but not required
