Job description

Distribution Driver & Packer

The Distribution Driver & Packer supports both meal packing and delivery operations to ensure clients receive medically tailored meals safely, accurately, and on time. This role is responsible for packing and staging meals according to MANNA's dietary cycle menus and client selections, assisting with loading delivery vehicles, and completing deliveries across the Greater Philadelphia region and Southern New Jersey. The position also ensures compliance with food safety standards, HIPAA requirements, and vehicle maintenance protocols.

Meals Packing & Staging

  • Accurately pack client meals according to daily menu cycles, dietary modifications, and individual client selections
  • Prepare shipping boxes and ensure accurate labeling in coordination with the shipping team
  • Stage and load delivery trucks with appropriate meals for assigned routes; verify counts against delivery manifests

Delivery Operations

  • Safely operate MANNA vehicles to drive assigned delivery routes and distribute meals according to prescribed dietary modifications and client choice in an accurate and timely manner
  • Utilize routing software on a MANNA-issued smartphone to navigate routes, contact clients, and maintain delivery records
  • Adapt routes as needed to accommodate traffic, weather, or special delivery considerations
  • Communicate proactively with the Transportation or Operations team regarding delays, incidents, or route challenges
  • Adhere to all applicable PA and NJ traffic laws and safe driving practices
  • Verify delivery accuracy and ensure all meals are distributed to the correct recipients
  • Follow all food safety protocols, including proper handling, storage, and monitoring of refrigeration temperatures
  • Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines to protect client confidentiality

Client Interaction & Service

  • Provide professional, courteous, and empathetic service to clients during all interactions
  • Serve as a positive ambassador for MANNA, reinforcing trust and reliability
  • Use sound judgment and problem-solving skills to address delivery issues or client concerns in real time
  • Observe and report relevant client needs or concerns to the appropriate supervisor

Vehicle & Facility Support

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of delivery vehicles, including cab and refrigeration units
  • Complete vehicle logs twice daily, including mileage and temperature checks
  • Report vehicle or refrigeration maintenance needs promptly
  • Conduct inventory checks and assist with organization of refrigerators and freezers
  • Participate in departmental meetings and support general distribution operations as needed

Education and Experience

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid position providing support across facility distribution operations and field-based delivery services
  • Ability to drive for extended periods (6–10 hours per shift)
  • Ability to read and interpret information on paper and digital devices (including smartphones)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to climb stairs and walk to and from client residences
  • Work performed in varying weather conditions

Additional Requirements

All offers of employment with MANNA are contingent upon the successful completion of a standard credentialing process, including a criminal background check, driving record review, and drug screening. These screenings are subject to annual re-verification as a condition of continued employment.

Salary: $20 an hour
