Job description

PACKER – JOB DESCRIPTION- SEASONAL


This position is currently a SEASONAL 2nd shift position from 3 PM to 11 PM with occasional mandatory Saturdays. This position pays $17.78 per hour.

The following Job Description is designed to the Packer Position. The position responsibilities shall include instructions for food safety, quality and process efficiency. The position responsibilities shall be, but are not limited to the functions as described below:

General Qualifications:

  1. Shall have Chemical Safety Training before handling chemicals.
  2. Shall have attended GMP, HACCP and Allergen Training.
  3. Shall have met all requirements of the SQF Program.
  4. Shall comply with all GMP requirements.
  5. Shall comply with all requirements for Personal Protective Equipment as defined by the appropriate plant procedures.
  6. Shall comply with all Safety Rules and Policies.
  7. Shall sign off on all co date sheets.

Packer Position Requirements:

  1. Shall place finished product into cartons manually or by the use of the mechanical cartoners. Shall place the filled cartons into the master corrugated box and tape the master corrugated box closed and place it on the conveyor to go to the freezer (approximate weight 20 lbs. to 50 lbs.) and participate in repacking product.
  2. Shall rotate positions every 15 minutes.
  3. Shall replenish rolls of wrap (approximate weight 45 lbs.) on the wrapper stand and when roll is empty or during changeovers to a different product.
  4. Shall remove and replace the boxes of stickers (approximate weight 22 lbs.) into the mechanical stickers. During sticker jams, the packer helps insert the sticks manually into the product and helps remove the product not removed by the picker arms.
  5. Shall open cases of cartons (approximate weight 20 lbs.) and fill the carton magazines to the proper level with cartons.
  6. Shall work together to maintain their work environment in a clean and orderly manner by picking up trash, hosing down the floors and squeegeeing as needed.
  7. Responsible for the proper filling of the consumer packages. They are responsible for removing empty wraps, tape wraps, and mechanically damaged product.
  8. Shall observe the product, machinery, ingredients and supplies and notify the supervisor and/or the machine operator of any and all abnormalities.
  9. Shall follow ICS Safety rules, reporting safety hazards and incidents to a supervisor.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.
