Spirit Halloween/Spencer’s is seeking a multi-talented Graphic Designer with a track record of creating visually pleasing and cohesive graphics for print (packaging and signage) with a firm understanding of the creative process. This freelance role will focus on signage design, packaging layout and retail presentations. Candidate must be a visual designer who is equally savvy at photography, illustration and communications. Must be able to take creative direction well and produce quality work. This position will require both remote and in office work. A passion for Halloween and pop culture is a plus.


Primary Job Duties:

  • A master of Graphic Design with the ability to translate ideas into creative visual presentation and design solutions
  • Prepare art files for release to printers as well as knowing appropriate file type for medium
  • Ability to layout, design and organize packaging mechanicals by following a style guide
  • Create packaging solutions that could in some cases drive the look for in-store point-of-purchase, advertising and other print/digital based consumer collateral needs
  • Work collaboratively and flexibly with other members of the Creative Team, Marketing, Product Team, other departments to achieve project goals
  • Work closely with copywriters and the creative team to gather images and copy, and route designs on a tight schedule
  • Work with creative and marketing teams to clarify objectives, revise creative and ensure accuracy of campaigns

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a four-year degree in graphic design or related field, or relevant work experience.
  • Minimum ten-years of experience with a focus on print design and layout
  • Proficiency in all applicable MAC software (Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office)
  • Highly efficient, with the ability to prioritize multiple details and tasks and meet deadlines within specified time constraints.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional typography and composition skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects and flexibility to change direction quickly based on business needs
  • Ability to self-direct under ambiguous and changing circumstances
  • Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational skills
  • Stay current on industry trends – keep the brand at the forefront of design, layout, and
  • Experience in light photo retouching and photo clipping
