Job description

About Vercel:

Vercel is the agentic infrastructure company. We free people and agents to ship what's next.

For more than a decade, Vercel has shaped how the web is built. As the team behind Next.js, v0, and AI SDK, we create products that help builders move from idea to production with speed, security, and exceptional developer experience.

Now, software is entering a new era, and the next generation of products will not just be used by people. They will be built, extended, and operated by agents.

We are building the platform for that future, trusted by companies like OpenAI, PayPal, Ramp, Supreme, and millions of developers worldwide. Whether you're building our products, supporting our customers, growing our community, or shaping our story, you'll help define what comes next.

About the role

Help shape a brand that moves as fast as the platform it represents.

As a Brand Designer on Vercel's Core team, you'll help evolve the foundational visual language of a brand trusted by the most ambitious builders in the world. You'll create systems, experiences, and defining brand moments that are instantly recognizable, creatively ambitious, and built to scale.

This is not a purely static design role. You'll work across brand systems, digital experiences, product launches, social, motion, print, events, environments, and the occasional piece of swag. We're looking for someone who can design, prototype, and use AI-assisted code to bring brand ideas to life.

You're a tinkerer, a visual strategist, and a creative explorer. You create clarity from complexity and actively use AI throughout your workflow to design, prototype, automate, experiment, and write code. You push the work until it’s sharp, then ship.

This is craft at speed. It's a high-impact, high-visibility role for someone who sweats the details, thinks in systems, and knows when to veer left for a one-off moment that makes people stop scrolling.

We move quickly. The bar is high. Your work ships.

What you'll do
  • Lead design across key brand moments - product launches, campaigns, events, internal initiatives, and moments not yet defined
  • Evolve the foundational elements of Vercel's visual identity: typography, color, composition, iconography, imagery, motion, and product-brand expression
  • Design across mediums, including web, motion, 3D, social, print, swag, and environments, choosing whatever format best serves the story
  • Move fluidly between Figma and code - writing HTML/CSS/JS and using AI-assisted tools (v0, Cursor, Claude Code) - to prototype independently and explore new forms of brand expression
  • Build and evolve a brand system that scales without going stale, translating it into tools, templates, and production-ready assets
  • Work hands-on from concept through final production, including preparing files, specs, and assets for implementation
  • Know when motion, 3D, code, or emerging technology meaningfully strengthens an idea - and when a simpler execution serves better
  • Establish a shared visual language across product, marketing, and internal comms - flexible enough to scale from everyday use to major brand moments
  • Partner with design engineers to polish prototypes into high-quality digital experiences
  • Collaborate with engineering, marketing, product design, and leadership to align on strategy and ship cohesive work
  • Direct and collaborate with external specialists - studios, freelancers, photographers, illustrators, printers, fabricators - when execution extends beyond your own craft
  • Present and defend creative decisions, connecting visual choices to brand, product, audience, and business goals
About you
  • 5+ years in brand, marketing, or visual design - ideally at a SaaS, developer tools, or fast-growing tech company
  • A portfolio showing exceptional taste, systems thinking, and execution across mediums - not just polished final images, but how you think, build systems, collaborate, navigate constraints, and get work into production
  • Exceptional typography and layout skills, with obsessive attention to spacing, hierarchy, rhythm, proportion, and alignment
  • Deep understanding of visual storytelling, brand systems, composition, motion, and digital experiences
  • You use AI throughout your process - visual exploration, prototyping, production, automation, and writing front-end code - not just to generate imagery or concepts, but to write, understand, debug, and iterate on code
  • Comfortable with tools like v0, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar AI-assisted coding environments to build working prototypes
  • Practical understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript - enough to refine AI-generated code to a high visual and interaction standard
  • You don't need to be a full-time engineer, but you're technically curious, comfortable in code, and capable of shipping functional prototypes
  • You think beyond static files and enjoy bringing ideas to life as real, interactive experiences
  • Strong production knowledge across digital and physical formats - responsive design, asset delivery, print prep, environmental graphics, vendor production
  • Comfortable moving between conceptual thinking, detailed execution, prototyping, and production
  • Understands how brand lives inside products and digital experiences, not just marketing campaigns
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation package, including equity.
  • Inclusive Healthcare Package.
  • Learn and Grow - we provide mentorship and send you to events that help you build your network and skills.
  • Flexible Time Off.
  • We will provide you the gear you need to do your role, and a WFH budget for you to outfit your space as needed.

The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $156,000-$234,000. Actual salary will be based on job-related skills, experience, and location. Compensation outside of San Francisco may be adjusted based on employee location. The total compensation package may include benefits, equity-based compensation, and eligibility for a company bonus or variable pay program depending on the role. Your recruiter can share more details during the hiring process.
