Job description

Are you an experienced drilling professional ready to turn your well control expertise into the next generation of safer operators?

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Well Control Instructor to join our team in Houma, Louisiana. This is your opportunity to leverage deep operational knowledge in an industry-leading training environment. As our new Well Control Instructor, you will deliver IADC-accredited well control training, facilitate simulator-based learning, and support the development of our safety training in Louisiana.

We Offer

A unique opportunity to work in a truly global business, delivering training to some of the largest operators and drilling contractors in the Gulf Coast region. You will use advanced simulation technology alongside classroom instruction to build genuine operational competency. You will be part of our North American instructor team, working across at our Louisiana facilities and occasionally in Houston, and will report to the General Manager in Louisiana.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver IADC accredited well control training (Levels 2-4) in classroom and simulator environments

  • Assist in the delivery of Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) and Drilling Practices courses

  • Ensure all training delivery complies with IADC standards and organizational requirements

  • Evaluate trainee competency through practical and theoretical assessments; provide constructive, development-focused feedback

  • Review and recommend improvements to training materials based on learner needs, operational changes, or evolving industry standards

  • Collaborate with Operations, HSE, and commercial teams to align training with customer and regulatory requirements

  • Support simulator facilities during course delivery, including coordination on software updates or vendor troubleshooting as needed

  • Maintain instructor accreditation and stay current with industry standards, drilling technologies, and regulatory developments

  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and genuine safety culture among trainees

We are looking for

  • IADC Well Sharp accreditation for Levels 1-4 (required)

  • Minimum 5-7 years of operational drilling experience with strong well construction and well control knowledge

  • Demonstrated experience delivering technical training in classroom and simulator environments

  • Familiarity with drilling simulator platforms (strongly preferred)

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills - able to engage trainees at varying experience levels

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Availability to travel to Houston, Texas (approximately 10%)

  • Crew Resource Management (CRM) instructor experience (preferred)

  • Fluent in English; Spanish an advantage
