Location: Alexandria, VA
Title: Vice President, Creative
Reports to: President
Classification: Exempt
Why You'll Love Working at RedPeg:
Voted as one of The Washington Post's Top Workplaces, we are an independent full service experiential marketing agency that connects brands to the consumers they need to reach through customized, personal engagement. Every day, we come together to create experiences that inspire extraordinary memories. We're looking for highly personable, passionate, and innovative marketers to bring the true entrepreneur spirit, growth mindset, and independent thinking to our team!
Why RedPegsters Are Comfortable Being Their True Self:
RedPeg is dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace where employees of all backgrounds can contribute and thrive. The company's policies and culture prioritize diversity at all levels and ensure fair treatment based on merit and potential rather than protected classifications factors (such as age, race, gender, religion). Our ERGs are the backbone of our culture at RedPeg. They help us educate, celebrate, and facilitate meaningful action throughout our organization and in our local communities.
What This Job is About:
The Vice President of Creative owns the creative vision for the agency and leads our creative team. Above all, we're looking for a big, out-of-the-box thinker: the person in the building who consistently comes up with the idea no one else saw coming. You think bigger than the brief, chase what's next, and build things that haven't been done before. Creating, not copying.
This is a player-coach role. You'll set the standard for the work, mentor a tight team of six across design, art direction, writing, and content, and still get your hands dirty concepting and building the work yourself. On any given week you're guiding the team, sitting in a client pitch, and personally cracking the idea that wins the room.
You'll work shoulder to shoulder with account leadership, strategy, and production, along with our executive producers, technical directors, fabrication partners, and freelancers, to take ideas from concept through flawless live execution. We're small and independent by design, which means less bureaucracy and more ownership. The creative bar for the whole agency runs through you.
We need someone who treats clients like partners, listening first and then pitching with unending enthusiasm and patience, instilling nothing short of total confidence. You're a storyteller with real creative chops and a strategic mindset to match, and you know how to draw the best ideas out of the people around you. Key responsibilities for this role include:
  • Set and protect the creative vision and quality bar across every project and campaign, so the work stays unified, breakthrough, and unmistakably RedPeg.
  • Be the agency's engine for big ideas: generate original concepts from the ground up and push the team past the obvious answer to something bolder.
  • Infuse innovative thinking across the whole agency, building a culture of curiosity and makers where people from every department think like design thinkers.
  • Stay ahead of what's next in experiential, content, and technology (immersive, AR/VR/XR, emerging formats and platforms) and fold new thinking into how we work.
  • Stay hands-on: personally concept, art-direct, and build key deliverables, especially on marquee pitches and flagship campaigns. You lead by doing, not just directing.
  • Lead and mentor a six-person creative team across design, art direction, writing, and content, helping each of them do the best work of their careers.
  • Elevate, refine, and challenge the quality of our concepts, visual output, and programming at every stage.
  • Partner with sales, strategy, and account management to win new business and grow existing accounts, bringing the creative point of view into pitches and client conversations.
  • Serve as the senior creative voice with clients, translating their business objectives and biggest brand challenges into experiences that deliver.
  • Own how the team spends its time: prioritize the pipeline, assign work, set internal deadlines, and balance a small team across a full slate of live, event-driven campaigns.
  • Support producers and project managers in building and managing project budgets, production schedules, and staff hours, with a constant eye on feasibility, logistics, and budget continuity.
  • Coordinate and communicate project changes across the agency, and streamline how Creative and Production work together.
  • Build and manage a strong bench of freelancers and outside vendors, and partner with Employee Experience to source full-time and freelance talent as we grow.
  • Conduct performance reviews for the creative team and represent Creative in leadership discussions and agency-wide initiatives.
What You're All About:
We won't lie: we know it's a tough gig to fill. But if the challenge excites rather than scares you, keep reading, because you might be exactly the person we need.
  • 10+ years in experiential marketing and large-scale live events, with experience across theatrical, live music, touring, original tech innovation, multimedia, and hybrid formats.
  • 5+ years leading creative teams, and you're energized by a player-coach role: happy managing a small team and still doing the work yourself.
  • A genuine big-picture, out-of-the-box thinker. You're insatiably curious, you notice trends and connections others miss, and you turn them into original ideas.
  • Strong strategic thinking: you produce innovative ideas at scale and know how to execute against a strategic vision.
  • Deep experiential design experience within an agency, and a real command of production and fabrication process, timelines, and nomenclature.
  • Strong video and content creation experience, plus sharp writing and copywriting skills, including script writing for video and Run of Show development.
  • Experience overseeing creative on B2B and B2C event marketing plans across a range of verticals and tactics.
  • A deep awareness of performance and installation trends, artistry, and technology, and the ability to build original concepts from the ground up.
  • A proven record of impacting brands through event creative, strong client-facing skills, and a portfolio that shows it. Channel strategy experience from a creative perspective is ideal, and heavy digital experience is a big plus.
  • Ability to travel to be on-site at client activations as needed.
