Collins is a leader in the transportation, marine, and site/civil contract services industries, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Bridge Inspection-Team Leader in our Salt Lake City, Utah, office. This role supervises and performs structural inspections on bridges and ancillary structures and leads inspection teams in the field. The Team Leader is also responsible for supporting the delivery of inspection and design projects and serves as the Project Manager on moderately complex inspection projects. This is a great opportunity for a Team Leader wanting to advance into project management!
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervises above-water and underwater bridge and ancillary design, inspection, and evaluation activity.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and provides recommendations on field and/or design issues and adaptations.
  • Prepares and monitors project budgets and assists in proposal preparation.
  • Oversees project schedules and ensures timely completion of projects.
  • Monitors moderately complex engineering projects in the field or office in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Leads moderately complex engineering computations and estimates for designing engineering projects.
  • Executes field work as required, which may include nights and weekends.
  • Produces complete engineering plans or reports.
  • Directs and supervises the work of entry-level engineers, technicians, drafters, and administrative staff.
  • Coaches field staff on the purpose, processes, and techniques of inspections.
  • Makes independent decisions with an established framework.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree and/or master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year university preferred, but not required, and a minimum of 4 to 5 years of bridge or ancillary structure inspection experience.
  • Must have passed the NHI/FHWA Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course #130055 and/or #130056.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification required.
  • NICET certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
