Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

At Cafe Rio, we don’t just make delicious, craveable, seriously fresh food — we create experiences people talk about.

We’re looking for a Social Media & Content Specialist who owns the voice of the customer. Not just posting content, but actively listening, engaging, and shaping the conversation around Cafe Rio in real time.

This role is about more than social. It’s about being plugged into culture, understanding where conversations are happening, and making sure Cafe Rio shows up in the right way, at the right time — every time.

If you are organized, move fast, think strategically, and care deeply about brand perception and engagement, this role is for you.

What You’ll Own (aka Your Playground)

Social Strategy & Execution

  • Execute Cafe Rio’s social media strategy across all platforms

  • Build and manage social media content calendars

  • Execute organic social posting with consistency and speed

  • Own social content creation (copy, direction, concepts) coordinating with freelancers when apprpropriate

Community & Engagement

  • Manage daily engagement across comments, DMs, and tags

  • Reshare stories and engage with customers in real time

  • Actively participate in conversations happening about Cafe Rio — not just on owned channels

  • Moderate comments and messages to protect brand reputation

Brand Voice & Sentiment

  • Own and maintain Cafe Rio’s voice across all social platforms

  • Monitor brand sentiment and identify trends in customer perception

  • Ensure the brand is represented accurately and positively in real-time conversations

  • Execute real-time crisis communication on social — responding, moderating, and maintaining platform presence; escalates emerging issues to the Manager of Brand Culture and Activations

Content & Campaigns

  • Develop and execute content for launches, campaigns, and LTOs

  • Create hype and drive conversation around new menu items

  • Adapt and execute leadership-approved campaign messaging for each platform — translating core messages into platform-specific captions, hooks, and tone

  • Stay on top of cultural and platform trends to keep content relevant

Influencer & Partnerships

  • Execute influencer activations — manage briefs, reviews, and posting coordination, working closely with Manager of Brand Culture and Activations to select and contract partners.

  • Execute brand partnership deliverables — coordinate logistics and uphold agreements for the brand

  • Engage with other brands and partners on social to drive visibility within activated partnerships

Analytics & Performance

  • Track and report on social media performance and engagement

  • Monitor key metrics including reach, engagement, sentiment, and growth

  • Translate insights into actionable improvements

  • Stay ahead of platform algorithm changes and adjust strategy accordingly

Competitive & Cultural Awareness

  • Monitor competitor campaigns and social activity

  • Identify opportunities to differentiate, stay relevant and win attention

  • Stay deeply connected to trends, conversations, and emerging platforms

 Who You Are

  • You think like the customer and speak like the brand

  • You move fast — because you know timing is everything

  • You’re obsessed with where conversations are happening and how to show up in them

  • You’re both strategic and hands-on — you plan it and execute it

  • You care about brand reputation and protect it in real time

  • You don’t just post — you create meaningful conversations

What Success Looks Like

  • Ensuring Cafe Rio is part of relevant, real-time conversations

  • When there is strong, consistent engagement across platforms

  • Increased positive brand sentiment and reach

  • Content that generates buzz, not just impressions

  • A social presence that feels human, responsive, and culturally aware

What You Bring (Qualifications)

  • 2-3+ years of experience in social media, content, or digital marketing

  • Experience managing brand social accounts

  • Understanding of social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.)

  • Experience with social analytics and reporting tools

  • Background in QSR, retail, or multi-location brands preferred, but not required

  • Highly organized, proactive, and accountable

Compensation & Perks

  • Competitive salary range

  • Bonus potential based on performance

  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401K

  • Monthly Cafe Rio Rewards (eat for free!)

  • Work provided cell phone (or cell phone stipend, depending on preference)

  • Paid time off and holidays (because burritos taste better when you’re rested)

  • A high-performing, low-ego team that cares about results and each other

Why Cafe Rio?

Because we believe you can be high-performing and human.    We work hard, move fast, and care deeply about delivering on what we say we’re going to do.  No fluff. No ego. Just great food, great people, and marketing that actually works.

Plus… unlimited bragging rights for bringing the world’s most delicious smothered burrito to life.

About Cafe Rio

Sourced by ZipRecruiter

The year was 1997. The place, a little town in southern Utah called St. George. A lovely couple named Steve and Patricia Stanley started a restaurant called Cafe Rio Mexican Grill. Cafe Rio served authentic dishes derived from inspired recipes and traditional cooking of Northern Mexico’s Rio Grande region, Southern Texas, and New Mexico. Central to every bite was the belief that every ingredient must be fresh and made fresh to order. And you know what? People loved it. They couldn’t get enough of it. So much so, that one restaurant became six. In 2004, these six little restaurants caught the attention of a fine gentleman named Bob Nilsen. He purchased Cafe Rio from the Stanleys with the idea of spreading the love of making this fresh Mexican food to everyone in and around Utah and beyond. We’re realizing the dream of spreading the love of Cafe Rio Mexican Grill around Utah and beyond. Check out our locations page to find a Cafe Rio near you.
