Freelance Telemundo information

What is a freelance Telemundo professional?

A Freelance Telemundo professional is an independent contractor who provides services to Telemundo, a major Spanish-language television network. These freelancers can work in various roles, such as reporting, video production, editing, or content creation, often on a project-by-project basis. They are not full-time employees of Telemundo but are hired for their expertise and flexibility to work on specific assignments. This allows Telemundo to access a diverse pool of talent while offering freelancers opportunities to work in Spanish-language media.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a freelance Telemundo reporter?

To thrive as a Freelance Telemundo Reporter, you need strong journalistic skills, fluency in Spanish, and a solid understanding of news production, often supported by a degree in journalism or communications. Familiarity with digital editing software, broadcast equipment, and content management systems is typically required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, adaptability, and the ability to work independently set top freelancers apart in this field. These abilities are vital to consistently deliver engaging, accurate news content that meets the network's standards and effectively connects with the Spanish-speaking audience.

What are some common challenges freelance professionals may face when working with Telemundo, and how can they best prepare for them?

Freelance professionals working with Telemundo often navigate fast-paced production schedules and must adapt quickly to shifting project needs or last-minute changes. Communication is key, as freelancers typically collaborate with producers, editors, and on-air talent, often across different time zones. To succeed, it's helpful to be fluent in both Spanish and English, stay organized, and proactively clarify project expectations. Building relationships within the team and being responsive to feedback will help freelancers integrate smoothly and deliver high-quality work.

Job description

The Agency:

Proudly already the No. 1 Hispanic entertainment and consumer PR agency in the country, the secret to H+M Communication’s success for more than 20 years is a simple one: We enable brands to engage with their target audiences, and specifically Hispanics, by developing PR and culture marketing campaigns that are inclusive, respectful, meaningful, and business-positive and, as a result, create awareness, business impact, and transformative outcomes for our clients. But our success isn’t just rooted in our approach to the work. At its core is our talent-rich dream team of PR professionals who seek excellence at every turn.

We proudly represent popular, iconic consumer, entertainment, and culture-first brands - located across the U.S. and the world. Some of our clients include Amazon Music, Amazon Stores, Paramount Pictures, Pinterest, Prime Video, Telemundo Network, Walt Disney Pictures, Warner Bros., and Universal Pictures - just to name a few!

Public relations is at the center of all that we do. We take a 360-degree approach to our work. We bring the right communications mix to our clients to best meet their goals - no matter if that includes media outreach, influencer relations, celebrity partnerships, event production, media buying, and more. We add value to (and are valued by) our clients thanks to our optimal size and agility, our culture-first mindset, our entrepreneurial spirit, our welcoming approach, and our ability to deliver the unexpected.

Our Team:

We’re glad to have built a unique employee culture at H+M, and together, we continuously improve as a strong, united, and unstoppable team. In doing so, we’re better able to serve our business and our clients while remaining as the PR and culture marketing agency of choice for brands and companies looking to reach Hispanic and multicultural consumers.

Today, our team includes more than 30 multilingual and ambi-cultural PR experts from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of age demographics, from recent college graduates to industry veterans. With co-headquarters in Los Angeles and Miami, and a focused team in and around New York City, a large percentage of our team members are based in some of the biggest media markets in the U.S. We’re proud to also have team members in the leading Hispanic consumer gateway markets of Mexico City.

One of the things we value most is the opportunity to work with talented people in highly creative and productive ways. That’s why at H+M, we’re always inclusive and results-oriented, and we’re also selective and discerning when it comes to building our dream team and our client roster. The diverse team we’ve built at H+M includes team members who:

  • Are just starting out in their careers or have heaps of industry and on-the-job experience;
  • Have worked in big and small PR agencies, as freelancers and personal publicists, or in corporate relations or global communications departments;
  • Represent multiple generations, speak one or more languages, are native English speakers or native speakers of another language, and were born here and abroad;
  • Have deep traditional consumer PR, integrated marketing, content creation, and social media experience and/or are well-versed in corporate communications, experiential and influencer marketing, and paid media;
  • Speak with media in Spanish or English, and/or can seamlessly pitch Spanish, English, and bicultural outlets;
  • And, are entertainment industry specialists or jacks (or rather publicists!) of all trades and all industries.

The proof of our effectiveness is in:

  • Our resilience and more than 20-year track record of success;
  • The awards we receive from leading industry organizations;
  • The testimonials we receive from our clients;
  • The expansion of our remits beyond traditional PR and long-standing relationships we’ve built and maintained with leading brands;
  • And, the quality of our people, the strength of the work we’ve done, and the success we’ve achieved as a team.

Together, our team members exemplify our standards of excellence, which encourage team members to be proactive, solutions driven, curious, industry leaders, and strategic storytellers, and also demonstrate an excellence in execution, critical thinking, and a bias for action. Does that sound like you? If so, we invite you to apply to join us!
