Job description
Working alongside professional staff and student board members and leaders, the Video Intern will capture, produce, and edit engaging content that connects with current students, promotes programs and events, and grows the digital presence of The MUSS and SAB. This is an excellent opportunity for a student looking to build a professional video portfolio while gaining real-world experience in content creation, social media strategy, and brand storytelling. All equipment and resources required for this roles success (laptop, editing software, cameras, mics, etc.) will be provided. Applicants are required to be currently enrolled full-time student at the University of Utah.
- Capture high quality content at athletics events, campus programs, and other student engagement activities.
- Produce and edit engaging videos for Instagram, TikTok, and other digital platforms.
- Collaborate with the Student Engagement team, MUSS Board and Student Alumni Board to develop creative content ideas that support their program goals.
- Stay current on social media trends, editing styles, and platform best practices to keep content fresh and engaging.
- Organize, catalog, and maintain video footage and b-roll libraries.
- Attend Utah Athletics, MUSS, and SAB events and programming as directed to capture content and b-roll.
- Demonstrated experience filming and editing video content for social media platforms.
- Proficiency with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, or similar programs.
- Assist with content planning and contribute ideas to help increase engagement and grow social media audiences on The MUSS and SAB social media.
- Understanding of current social media trends and best practices, particularly Instagram and TikTok.
- Experience operating DSLR, mirrorless, or professional video cameras (or demonstrated ability to produce high-quality content using mobile devices).
- Interest in college athletics, campus traditions, and student engagement is strongly preferred.
- Support other special projects as assigned.
This position may require the successful completion of a criminal background check and/or drug screen.
