A freelance science professional is an expert who offers scientific services or expertise on a contract or project basis, rather than being employed full-time by a single organization. These individuals might conduct research, write scientific articles, consult on scientific projects, or provide data analysis for clients in academia, industry, or publishing. Freelance science professionals often have backgrounds in fields like biology, chemistry, physics, or environmental science, and their work can vary depending on client needs. This flexible role allows them to work with multiple organizations and manage their schedules independently.

How do freelance science professionals typically find and manage projects, and what challenges might they face in this process?

Managing multiple projects can be challenging, especially in balancing workload, meeting diverse client expectations, and handling administrative tasks like invoicing and contracts. Staying organized and maintaining clear communication with clients is essential. Additionally, freelancers must actively seek out new opportunities to ensure a steady workflow and keep their skills current in a rapidly evolving field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Freelance Science Writer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Freelance Science Writer, you need a strong background in scientific disciplines, excellent research skills, and proficiency in clear, accurate writing, typically supported by a degree in science, journalism, or a related field. Strong communication, self-motivation, and the ability to meet deadlines are essential soft skills in this role. These skills ensure the delivery of credible, engaging science content for diverse audiences while maintaining professional reliability and adaptability.

Job description

About Us

The human brain is the most complex object in the universe, yet society had accepted one-size-fits all approaches to cognition. The "solutions" (think coffee, energy drinks, and even a friend's rx) were mediocre at best and frankly, made no sense to us. So, we created Thesis, the world's first customized nootropics company. If you've never heard that word before, it's just a fancy way of saying brain supplements. In five years, most will be taking nootropics on the daily and chances are, they'll be ours.

With an exceptional efficacy rate, the world has taken notice - we've raised over $14M in venture capital, garnered interest from leading neuroscientists and athletes, and established ourselves as the industry's leading brand. Now, we're looking for incredible people to help us share the gift of enhanced cognitive function with the world. If you're looking to be a part of a movement - one that involves both immense self-growth and an ambitious mission to pioneer an industry - we'd love to have you on the team.

About The Role

We are seeking a talented Freelance Graphic Designer to join our creative team and play a pivotal role in shaping our visual identity. As the Graphic Designer at Thesis, you will craft captivating designs that resonate with our audience across various platforms, direct response ad content creation, social media, and branding initiatives

How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Design compelling visuals for diverse marketing initiatives, including direct response creative, social media posts, digital ads, and website graphics.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create visually engaging marketing content that drives engagement, conversion, and brand loyalty.
  • Help maintain and evolve the Thesis brand identity through consistent and impactful design across all touchpoints.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to brainstorm and conceptualize design solutions that align with marketing strategies.
  • Design multimedia assets that convey complex information in an accessible and visually appealing manner.
  • Implement A/B testing strategies to optimize design elements and drive continuous improvement in performance.
  • Stay updated on design trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to ensure our visual content remains cutting-edge and relevant.
  • Uphold the highest design standards, ensuring all visual materials align with our brand guidelines and convey a cohesive message

We're Excited About Your:

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), as well as other relevant design tools.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing your creativity, design skills, and ability to create visually appealing marketing materials.
  • Experience in creating visually engaging marketing content, social media graphics, and branding assets.
  • Understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout design.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and translate concepts into visuals.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with nootropics, health, wellness, or related industries is a plus.

Our Values:

  • Find your formula: We strive to create an environment where everyone can discover their own formula for success and fulfillment. We are committed to providing the resources, support, and opportunities necessary for individuals to set their own path.

  • Driven by science & data: Through data-driven insights, our employees gain a deeper understanding of customer preferences, market trends, and operational efficiencies. This knowledge assists them to make informed decisions, optimize their strategies, personalize their approach and enhance their problem-solving capabilities.
