Job description

REGISTERED NURSE (RN)
Job Duties: Registered Nurse for individuals with developmental disabilities and/or mental illnesses within the agency.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Administer medications and ensure accurate medication documentation on MARs in accordance with physician orders.
  • Ensure adherence to the "Eight Rights of Medication Administration."
  • Provide nursing care services including wound care, G-tube feedings, vital signs monitoring, skin care, and assistance with ADLs as needed.
  • Complete nursing assessments and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Review and follow each individual's ISP and Plan of Care in compliance with PHCP and regulatory requirements.
  • Attend ISP meetings and participate in interdisciplinary care planning, as applicable.
  • Monitor individuals' health status and communicate with physicians, RNs, PAs, NPs, and other healthcare professionals regarding recommendations, referrals, and follow-up care.
  • Ensure doctor appointments and medical follow-ups are scheduled, attended, and completed as required.
  • Support individuals with meal planning, nutrition, and specialized dietary needs.
  • Train and support direct care staff on the medical needs and healthcare protocols for individuals served.
  • Oversee services provided by direct care staff and CNAs to ensure quality and compliance with care standards.
  • Observe, document, report, and respond appropriately to changes in individuals' conditions to ensure quality care and quality of life.
  • Participate actively in Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives and organizational quality assurance processes.
  • Ensure medications and hazardous materials are stored and disposed of safely and according to established guidelines.
  • Cooperate and communicate professionally with family members regarding reasonable requests and individual care needs.
  • Provide transportation support when applicable, in accordance with DBHDD transportation requirements.
  • Perform other nursing duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Nursing (DON).
Qualifications
  • Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Georgia.
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification required.
  • Must successfully obtain and maintain NCIC/DBHDD clearance.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required if transportation duties are assigned.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, flexibility, and a positive attitude in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and staff from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of need.
