YOUR DAY TO DAY:
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer/Specialist who will focus on the quality and reliability of CPI power amplifiers and or medical generator products, working closely with a cross-functional team of engineering, production, manufacturing engineering, quality and procurement. This person is responsible for improving the quality of CPI’s products, in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. You are striving for manufacturing processes that are robust, repeatable and support the customer and business goals throughout the product life cycle. Success requires agility, planning and proactiveness to support and align both the business goals and the individual candidate’s goals, resulting in collaborative growth.

YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work effectively with colleagues across operations and the organization, communicating clearly to meet both short‑term and long‑term operational goals.
  • Be a driver of alignment across the organization, striving for clarity, accountability and ownership from yourself and those that you interact with.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with Design Engineering and Quality to resolve technical issues.
  • Support fellow manufacturing engineers as required, acting as a back-up or alternate.

Process Ownership

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing build and inspection processes, along with manufacturing test processes that align to design and customer requirements.
  • Build, maintain and scale the knowledge of CPI’s manufacturing workflows and technical testing through standardization, commonality and cross training.
  • Develop processes that support safety, quality, efficiency and maintainability.
  • Monitor product yield, throughput, and process risks, by leading or supporting PFMEAs, data analysis, MRB, 8D problem solving and VSM tools.
  • Support field failure root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Provide engineering support for the identification design of jigs, fixtures, and gauges.
  • Ability to manage BOM configuration and maintenance, including BOM development & verification.
  • Drive continuous quality improvement and cost reduction processes.

Technical Ownership

  • Serve as a key resource for diagnosing and resolving issues involving electro‑mechanical, high voltage and RF systems and components during manufacturing while incorporating safety, quality and throughput.
  • Perform RF testing of high-power amplifiers (HPAs) across satellite communication frequency bands.
  • Operate and calibrate RF test equipment, including PNA, VNA, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, waveguide couplers and power meters.
  • Work with AC, DC, and RF signals, applying fundamental electrical engineering principles.
  • Partner with Design Engineering to support the implementation of new designs or requirements into reliable manufacturing processes and test equipment.

Project & Initiative Management

  • Ability to gauge, communicate and manage projects / tasks of varying urgency.
  • Lead and or contribute to multiple initiatives simultaneously, from factory issues to the implementation of new amplifier features or parts.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with the operations team to prioritize and resolve technical issues to meet all customer requirements, including quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Other duties as required.

YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:

  • University degree; or 3-year College diploma coupled with relevant work experience in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
    • Asset if in Mechatronics, RF Engineering, Electronics, Manufacturing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a manufacturing engineering capacity.
  • Must have a well-rounded mechanical background with manufacturing engineering experience in a high tech environment.
  • Green Belt Certification or equivalent industry lean experience.
  • PMP designation an asset, but not required
  • Eng designation an asset, but not required
  • Must be able to meet CGP requirements
