MSAG is seeking a Senior Airport Pavement Engineer to serve as a technical and programmatic subject matter expert supporting airport pavement design, pavement construction, pavement maintenance, and the development, review, and update of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Advisory Circulars (ACs), Engineering Briefs, and other technical guidance documents. This is a remote position with opportunities for occasional travel.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong technical expertise in airport pavement design, construction, evaluation, and maintenance, as well as excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. A high level of attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently are essential. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain and update FAA-owned or managed guidance and requirements related to structural design and analysis, evaluation and condition assessment, soil investigation, flexible and rigid pavement evaluation, construction materials and techniques, and preventative maintenance procedures and inspection guidelines.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in airport pavement design, construction, evaluation, and maintenance to support the review and update Advisory Circulars.
  • Support FAA guidance and requirements across assigned projects and initiatives, providing technical recommendations and advisory support as needed.
  • Review technical comments and make recommendations for adjudication related to Advisory Circulars, Engineering Briefs, FAA Orders, white papers, and other supporting documents.
  • Identify differences in pertinent ICAO documents and develop reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance workflow efficiency, technical quality, and overall product effectiveness.
  • Communicate proactively using the appropriate format and channel for the audience, subject matter, and context.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, technical specialists, and stakeholders to support program objectives and deliver high-quality work products.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team environment.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree in related field and a minimum of 15 years of Airport Pavement Engineering experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to execute multiple tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Desire and drive to learn, grow, and advance within the industry.
  • An ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional Document writing skill or editing experience (for white papers, etc.)
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint on Windows-based computers.
