Mechanical Claims SpecialistJob Summary

Are you an experienced automotive technician or mechanic looking to transition from the shop floor into an office-based role? We are seeking a Mechanical Claims Specialist to join a growing customer support and claims team. In this position, you will leverage your automotive expertise to evaluate vehicle repair claims, assist customers and repair facilities, and determine warranty claim eligibility.

This role offers an opportunity to apply your mechanical knowledge in a professional office or remote environment while maintaining a strong connection to the automotive industry.


Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, investigate, and process mechanical claims accurately using established guidelines and procedures.
  • Review repair recommendations from dealerships and service facilities to determine warranty coverage eligibility.
  • Communicate professionally via phone and email with vehicle owners, repair facilities, and other stakeholders.
  • Explain claim approvals, denials, and required next steps in a clear and customer-friendly manner.
  • Utilize automotive knowledge to understand mechanical failures and repair recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records and claim documentation within company systems.
  • Demonstrate empathy, active listening, and problem-solving skills when addressing customer concerns.
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to ensure claims are handled fairly, consistently, and efficiently.
  • Adhere to departmental processes, quality standards, and service expectations.

Typical Calls You'll HandleDealer Repair Authorization Requests

Dealerships will contact you regarding repairs needed on covered vehicles. Using established warranty guidelines, you will determine whether repairs qualify for coverage and communicate approval or denial decisions.

Claim Status and Coverage Questions

Vehicle owners will call to understand why a claim was approved or denied. You will explain decisions clearly and professionally.

Repair Process Guidance

Vehicle owners will contact the claims team seeking guidance on vehicle concerns. You will explain the warranty claims process, assist with obtaining repair estimates, and outline the steps needed to determine coverage eligibility.


Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of automotive mechanic, technician, or related mechanical experience.
  • Strong understanding of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repair processes.
  • Ability to discuss technical automotive concepts with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience handling customer concerns and resolving complex situations professionally.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications and the ability to navigate multiple systems simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, call-center or customer-service environment.
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • ASE Certification.
  • Experience with claims processing or warranty administration.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Experience using labor guides such as AllData, Mitchell, or similar systems.
  • Familiarity with automotive scan tools and diagnostic equipment.
