This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.CNC Machining and CAM Automation EngineerThis role is part of Advanced Manufacturing Group’s (AMG) CNC Machining Automation team, supporting Blue Origin’s mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of earth.As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will develop and deploy advanced machining processes, custom software applications, CNC machine automation, and CAM automation supporting CNC machining to drive delivery of Blue Origin rockets and systems. You will participate in the design, implementation, and deployment of pioneering systems and technologies to continuously improve the safety, quality and efficiency of our manufacturing processes.We are looking for someone to apply their CNC machining, CAD/CAM/PLM, and software development expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to scale and improve automated manufacturing.Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:Develop, deploy, customize, and support software solutions to drive efficiency and automation in CNC programming and machining fabricationDrive adoption and implementation of efficiency-increasing tools, including AI/ML, in-process probing, adaptive machining, closed-loop feedback processes, and cutting tool data management systems.Develop and deploy CNC postprocessors and machine code simulationDevelop and/or support integrations and add-ons for CAD/CAM/PLM systemsIndependently identify and evaluate advanced and emerging manufacturing technologyWork independently to identify, prioritize, and initiate automation solutionsSupport strategic initiatives such as equipment and software selectionProvide direct hands-on support to machinists, CNC programmers, and manufacturing engineers in deploying new processes and technologyCollaborate with machinists, CNC programmers, manufacturing engineers, industrial engineers, automation engineers, and software engineers to develop and scale machining automationCollaborate with CNC vendor applications engineers, maintenance technicians, IT networking, and automation engineers for holistic lifecycle support of CNC machinesQualifications:7+ years in a CNC machining manufacturing environmentDemonstrated success with CAM systems and CNC programmingDemonstrated success in software development and/or CNC postprocessor development and/or CAM software development and customizationExtensive experience with CNC controls such as Sinumerik, Heidenhain, Fanuc, or OkumaExtensive understanding of G-code with demonstrated ability to write custom high-level cycles and subprograms (“macro programming”), especially for probingAbility to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test proceduresAble to write high quality, efficient, and maintainable code in languages such as Python, and TypescriptAbility to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilitiesExtremely customer focused with strong verbal and written communication skillsA demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with teams of different skills across large geographic distancesExceptional organizational and analytical skills and a proven ability to drive complex projects with minimal oversightMust be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylumDesired:Bachelor of Science in engineering, computer science, or other scientific discipline from an accredited universityExperience with modern software development practices for source control, CI/CD, and cloud architectureExperience with CAD/CAM/PLM environment administration and customization, especially Siemens NX and TeamcenterExperience with CNC postprocessor development, especially for NX CAMExperience developing automated machining cellsExperience with roboticsExperience with cutting tool databases such as TMS, TDM, or MRLMust be physically able to:Support manufacturing and fabrication floor activities.Climb stairs and work in small areas.Lift and carry 40 lbs.Special MentionsRelocation may be providedTravel expected up to 10% of the timeInterviews will include technical questionsLocation: Space Coast, FL; Huntsville, AL; Kent, WABase Pay Range for:WA applicants is $197,529.00 - $276,539.55Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
