Job description

Department: Stamping Engineering

Position Title: Senior Die Designer 1 (Production Blank Die Liaison)

Reports To: Stamping Engineering Manager

Position Summary

The Die Designer 1 (Production Blank Die Liaison) serves as the primary technical interface between engineering teams, customers, and tooling suppliers. This role leads design reviews, evaluates supplier-submitted 3D die designs, and ensures compliance with customer standards and program requirements.

This position is responsible for monitoring supplier progress throughout the tool build lifecycle, ensuring alignment to timing, quality, and reporting expectations. The role also coordinates engineering changes to existing blanking dies and communicates status, risks, and issues to both suppliers and customer management.

Qualifications

• Education: General academic education required; technical training or equivalent experience in die design preferred

• Experience: 5+ years in sheet metal stamping design, blank layout, or tooling project coordination

• Software: Working knowledge of CATIA V5/V6, NX, Teamcenter (TCE), and Microsoft Office

• Knowledge: Strong understanding of blanking/progressive die strip layouts, GD&T, tooling processes, and Ford WDX standards.

• Lead cross-functional design reviews (virtual and in-person)

• Review supplier 3D die designs and provide approval recommendations for manufacturability and compliance
