Senior Power Systems Electrical Engineer

Full Time Electrical Anchorage, Alaska, Anchorage, AK, US

Salary Range: $125,000.00 To $165,000.00 Annually

About Electric Power Systems, Inc.:

Electric Power Systems, Inc (EPS) is a unique company offering a wide range of services in the areas related to small and large utilities, industrial customers and Independent Power Producers. We provide power system operation studies and troubleshooting, design of new facilities and upgrading of existing facilities, consultation and studies. EPS designs substations up to 230 kV, power plants from 100 kW to 25 MW, and protection, control and monitoring systems including SEL based relays and PLC based SCADA systems. We extensive experience with PV based systems in remote locations and have integrated both PV and Wind power generation into remote diesel power plants.

Through our sister company, EPS also offers unique design/build services for a wide variety of projects from power plants to substations, transmission and distribution systems.

We are currently seeking a skilled Senior Power System Electrical Engineer to join our Alaska team.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts within the company in substation design, power system studies, protection & coordination, diesel power plant design
  • Serve as a technical lead project manager within a company of over 40 professional engineers
  • Perform or direct other engineers in analyzing low voltage, medium voltage power systems, designing substations and power plants in unique environments, and project management
  • D evelop controls and design for the integration of power generation of various technologies into the same plant
  • P repare technical reports using Microsoft word
  • Develop project proposals, scopes, and schedules
  • Manage projects independently, including coordinating data requests and submissions, tracking progress, and addressing client comments
  • Provide technical oversight and direction to other engineers as needed

Requirements:

  • Proven team leader with strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experienced in project scoping, estimating, and detailed electrical design
  • Experiences in management of and technical lead for, entry level engineers
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience in AutoCAD, SEL, Woodward, Comap, Basler, GE, ETAP, EasyPower, SKM and PowerWorld
  • Knowledge of VFD controls and applications
  • Field experience is preferred, but not required
  • Microgrid, power plant or utility experience a plus, but not required
  • Experience in off-grid applications and integration of wind, solar, hydro generation preferred
  • Ability to perform site visits and conduct project scoping with clients
  • Ability to work independently and on multidiscipline engineering teams
  • PE Registration required, or ability to obtain an Alaska PE within 6 months
