Freelance Art Director

Kinn Studio

Los Angeles, CA • On-site

Part-time

Posted 21 days ago

Job description

Freelance Art Director - Part-time, Contract

About Kinn Kinn is a modern heirloom fine jewelry brand. For the past seven years we've brought storytelling and personal meaning back into the jewelry people wear every day — celebrating a woman's many moments lived. We're a small, founder-led brand team that cares deeply about taste, craft, and how the brand shows up in the world.

The Role

We're looking for a freelance Art Director to join our Brand team on a part-time contract basis, starting as coverage during a team member's leave (roughly 1–2 months).

This is a hybrid creative role. You'll lead art direction and on-set production for our campaigns and help shape how the brand comes alive on social. We're not looking for someone purely executional — we want a creative partner who brings fully formed ideas, anticipates rather than waits to be briefed, and has a point of view on how brand translates into content.

You'll work closely with our Head of Brand and Founder, and ideally you're someone who's as comfortable directing a shoot as you are thinking about how that campaign lives across the grid.

What you'll do

Art Direction & Production

  • Concept and lead visual direction for campaigns, product launches, and digital activations
  • Build moodboards, references, shot lists, and visual treatments
  • Direct photo and video shoots on set — lighting, composition, styling, props
  • Manage shoot logistics: call sheets, scheduling, file prep, vendor coordination
  • Guide post-production: selects, editing notes, pacing, and final visual polish

Social & Content Direction

  • Lead the creative direction of how the brand shows up on social
  • Help shape how campaigns are conceived for social — not just adapted to it afterward
  • Partner with our social team to elevate content beyond "posting on the grid" into intentional, brand-right storytelling
  • Bring strategic input on how brand and social work together

You might be a fit if you

  • Have proven experience art-directing photo and video shoots, ideally in fashion, beauty, jewelry, or a premium lifestyle brand
  • Are genuinely passionate about social — how brand comes alive there and how to art-direct properly across the channel
  • Bring strong taste and judgment, and can protect the brand while moving fast
  • Are a self-starter who sees around corners and creates momentum
  • Can be on set and in our office as needed

Details

  • Type: Freelance / Contract, part-time
  • Hours: ~20–30 hours/week (flexes with production schedule)
  • Duration: ~1–2 months coverage, with potential to extend
  • Location: Hybrid — minimum 1–2 days/week in office, plus on-set days as needed
  • Reporting to: Head of Brand
  • Compensation: Commensurate with experience
