Occupational Health & Safety Specialist
Schedule: Full-Time | Hours determined by department needs
Pay: $28.00-$31.00/hour.
SmallBiz Staffing is seeking an experienced Occupational Health & Safety Specialist for a local reputable manufacturing facility in Crossville, TN. This position is ideal for a safety-focused professional with a strong background in manufacturing who is passionate about protecting employees, maintaining OSHA compliance, and creating a culture where safety comes first.
The best candidate for this role is a proactive leader who has experience developing and managing workplace safety programs, conducting investigations, overseeing workers' compensation, and collaborating with multiple departments to improve overall safety performance. Responsibilities:
-Develop, implement, and maintain workplace safety programs, policies, and procedures.
-Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and all applicable state and local safety requirements.
-Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments throughout the facility.
-Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, and near misses while leading root cause analysis and corrective actions.
-Manage the workers' compensation program, including claims administration and return-to-work coordination.
-Coordinate emergency response planning and participate in emergency preparedness drills.
-Monitor workplace hazards including dust, air quality, noise exposure, and ergonomics.
-Administer PPE programs and ensure employees are properly trained and equipped.
-Supervise Safety & Sanitation Technicians by assigning work, monitoring performance, and providing coaching.
-Ensure dust management and raw material cleanup activities meet company and regulatory standards.
-Partner with Human Resources to develop and deliver OSHA-compliant safety training.
-Collaborate with production leadership and the Environmental Specialist to support overall Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives.
-Serve as the primary safety resource for production teams by providing technical guidance and recommending best safety practices.
Requirements:
-Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
-3-5 years of occupational health and safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

-Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workers' compensation administration.
-Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
-Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
-Ability to conduct investigations, identify workplace hazards, and implement effective corrective actions.
-Strong computer, documentation, and recordkeeping skills.
-Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
-Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
