Role

  • Facilitate writing and structuring competitive grant proposals tailored for SBIR/STTR grants and other federal R&D funding opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with our internal team and university colleagues to translate complex technical innovations and ambitious business plans into a compelling narrative that meets the specific requirements of the target agency.
  • Conduct a thorough analysis of a project's commercial potential and strategic alignment with the mission and objectives of the targeted federal program.
  • Manage the proposal development process for your assigned projects, ensuring all components—from the Project Pitch/LOI to the full proposal and commercialization plan—are completed to the highest standard.
  • Provide expert strategic guidance to HD Nursing leadership on how to best position innovation within the US federal funding landscape.

Experience

  • BA proven and demonstrable track record of writing successful proposals for US federal agencies, particularly within the SBIR/STTR programs.
  • At least 3-5 years of direct experience as grant writer focused on US federal R&D funding.
  • A Master's degree or PhD in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and/or an MBA with a strong technical background.
  • Legally registered as a freelancer or business entity (e.g., LLC, S-Corp) able to work and issue invoices in the United States.
  • Native or equivalent English proficiency (written and spoken) is essential.
