This fully remote freelance opportunity is ideal for experienced patent translators with a strong background in Korean-to-English translation. The role focuses on producing accurate, technically precise patent translations across a variety of scientific and engineering disciplines, helping protect intellectual property on a global scale. You will work on consistent translation assignments using industry-standard CAT tools while collaborating with an international network of language professionals. Success in this role requires exceptional linguistic accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver high-quality work within established deadlines. It is an excellent opportunity for freelance translators seeking long-term collaboration on specialized technical projects.

Accountabilities
  • Translate patent documentation from Korean into English while preserving the original meaning, technical accuracy, and appropriate style.
  • Deliver high-quality translations across technical fields such as chemistry, biology, computer science, electricity, mechanics, and medical devices.
  • Perform translation, copy editing, proofreading, and machine translation post-editing (MTPE) as required.
  • Use CAT tools, primarily XTM, while following established translation workflows and project guidelines.
  • Ensure terminology consistency, readability, and compliance with client-specific quality standards.
  • Manage assigned workloads efficiently while meeting project deadlines and quality expectations.
  • Communicate proactively in English with project teams and respond promptly to project-related requests.
Requirements
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience translating and reviewing patent documentation from Korean into English.
  • Native-level fluency in English with excellent written communication skills.
  • Degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven expertise in patent translation across one or more technical domains, including chemistry, biology, computer science, electricity, mechanics, or medical devices.
  • Experience with CAT tools, particularly XTM, and familiarity with structured translation workflows.
  • Ability to perform translation, proofreading, copy editing, and machine translation post-editing.
  • Strong attention to detail, terminology management, and commitment to delivering technically accurate translations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a remote freelance environment.
Benefits
  • Fully remote freelance opportunity with the flexibility to work from Anywhere.
  • Consistent project volume, with an expected workload of approximately 2,500-5,000 words per week.
  • Opportunity to establish a long-term freelance partnership.
  • Work on specialized intellectual property projects across multiple scientific and technical disciplines.
  • Professional development through exposure to diverse and challenging patent translation assignments.
  • Collaboration with a multicultural, international network of language professionals.
  • Dedicated community support available six days a week to assist throughout projects.
