JOB DESCRIPTION
The Big Ten Network is seeking a Customer Acquisition Freelancer for 10 months from July 2026 through June 1st, 2027. The Customer Acquisition Freelancer will support the development and execution of grassroots marketing, sponsorship, partnership, and audience growth initiatives designed to expand brand awareness, reach new audiences, and drive subscriber growth for B1G+.
B1G+ is the Big Ten Network's direct-to-consumer subscription service featuring thousands of live non-televised events, next-day on-demand replays, school-specific channels, and access to classic games and original programming.
This role will play an integral part in helping identify and execute new growth opportunities across youth sports, retail media, live events, partnerships, and community-based marketing efforts. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, creative, and passionate about sports marketing, partnerships, fan engagement, and growth strategy.
This role is ideal for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience across sports marketing, partnerships, sponsorships, audience growth, CRM, and direct-to-consumer strategy.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support grassroots marketing initiatives focused on expanding B1G+ awareness and subscriber acquisition
  • Support retail media network activations and co-branded marketing campaigns with external partners
  • Support reporting and analysis on partnership and activation performance
  • Assist with sponsorship fulfillment, activation logistics, and campaign execution
  • Assist in developing and executing youth sports sponsorship opportunities, including state athletic associations, tournaments, and championship events
  • Assist with event planning, promotions, and fan engagement initiatives
  • Help identify and coordinate new business development and partnership opportunities
  • Help create presentations, recap materials, promotional plans, and partnership documents
  • Conduct market and partnership research to identify new audience growth opportunities
  • Coordinate communication and deliverables with external partners and organizations
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with CRM, Marketing, Creative, Digital, and Production teams
  • Stay current on sports marketing, youth sports, media, sponsorship, and partnership trends
  • Email and push notification campaign support
  • QA and review of marketing campaigns and promotions
  • Subscriber acquisition and retention initiatives
  • Marketing agreement execution with Big Ten schools
  • Affiliate marketing strategy and partner outreach
  • Promotional campaign ideation and execution
  • Audience segmentation and targeting projects
  • Cross-functional strategic marketing initiatives
  • Lifecycle marketing and customer engagement projects

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Sports Management, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience or interest in sponsorships, partnerships, youth sports, or event marketing
  • Experience in sports marketing, partnerships, sponsorships, or grassroots marketing
  • Experience creating presentations, promotional materials, or partnership recaps
  • Familiarity with youth sports organizations or athletic associations
  • Knowledge of digital marketing and subscriber-based businesses
