Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Art Department Fabrication Contractor to support our creative production team with hands-on fabrication, signage, and installation work during our busy season. This is a highly practical role suited for someone who enjoys working with their hands, has a strong eye for detail, and can execute clean, professional work from layouts, artwork, and production specifications.

The position will primarily focus on vinyl masking and weeding, foam core signage and large-scale display fabrication, with occasional work involving LED neon rope and LED tape.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply, mask, cut, and weed vinyl graphics with a high level of precision and cleanliness.
  • Prepare vinyl graphics for installation and assist with transferring and applying graphics to various surfaces such as furniture, shelving displays, sheet goods etc.
  • Cut, assemble, and finish foam core signage and displays, including large-scale structures.
  • Measure, score, cut, glue, and fabricate foam core components according to provided artwork, drawings, or specifications.
  • Assemble large-format foam core displays and dimensional signage while maintaining clean edges, accurate alignment, and structural integrity.
  • Assist with fabrication, finishing, and installation of art department projects as needed.
  • Perform minor fabrication and installation work using LED neon rope and LED tape, including basic mounting, routing, and finishing.
  • Assist with basic carpentry and construction tasks as project needs require.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Handle materials, tools, and finished pieces carefully to prevent damage.
  • Work efficiently while meeting project deadlines and maintaining a high standard of craftsmanship.
  • Collaborate with the sales team, graphic designers, art production manager, and other members of the production team to bring projects from concept to finished product.
  • Take on additional hands-on fabrication and production tasks as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Previous experience in sign fabrication, scenic fabrication, display production, graphic installation, set fabrication, or a related hands-on field preferred.
  • Strong experience with vinyl application, masking, and weeding.
  • Experience cutting and assembling foam core or similar sheet materials.
  • Comfortable working on large-scale displays and signage.
  • Carpentry, woodworking, or general construction experience is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with common hand and power tools and basic fabrication techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and a clean, precise approach to fabrication.
  • Ability to read and work from artwork, measurements, layouts, and basic production drawings.
  • Basic familiarity with LED neon rope and LED tape is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, troubleshoot issues, and find practical solutions in a production environment.
  • Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple projects or deadlines.
  • Ability to safely lift, move, and assemble large-format materials and displays.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on maker and problem solver who takes pride in clean fabrication and can move comfortably between detailed vinyl work and larger-scale physical builds. A background in carpentry, woodworking, scenic construction, or general fabrication is highly valued, particularly for projects requiring additional structural or custom-built elements.

You should be able to work independently, follow direction when needed, and recognize when a project requires extra attention to detail or a creative fabrication solution.
