Part-Time Music Coordinator
General Description
We are seeking a reliable, dependable, and detail-oriented individual to join our Live Production team as a Part-Time Music Coordinator. This dynamic role will support the execution of music and audio elements for Houston Rockets and Houston Comets home games, special events, and arena programming. Working closely with the Live Production Manager, DJ, and Live Programming team, the Music Coordinator will help create an engaging and energetic atmosphere by preparing, organizing, and executing music cues that enhance the overall fan experience. The ideal candidate is passionate about music and live entertainment, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrates strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills while representing the Houston Rockets and Houston Comets organizations with professionalism and excellence.
RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
  • Demonstrates our One Team philosophy of Passion, Accountability, Customer Focus, and Teamwork.
  • Assist Live Production Manager with preparing, loading, and organizing music tracks, edits, and audio assets into playback software.
  • Execute in-game music cues following a live event script or run of show taking live cues from the Game Director during Houston Rockets and Houston Comets home games in coordination with Production team and in-arena DJ.
  • Maintain and organize music libraries, playlists, and cue sheets by editing, formatting, labeling, archiving, and ensuring all files are accurate and event ready.
  • Support rehearsals, production meetings, and pregame preparation to ensure all music and entertainment elements are aligned.
  • Troubleshoot playback, timing, and cueing issues during live events while communicating solutions quickly and effectively.
  • Assist with the setup, operation, and breakdown of DJ and audio-related equipment, including transporting equipment weighing 25+ pounds.
  • Communicate effectively with control room staff, stage manager, DJ, entertainment lead, and table director throughout live events.

SKILLS amp; COMPETENCIES
  • Familiar with playback software such as Ableton Live, Seven Point Audio, Serato and similar systems
  • Understanding of live event timing, cue execution, and headset communication
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for live entertainment, music programming, and fan engagement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be willing and able to work, days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Thorough understanding of NBA and WNBA game formats, rules, and live timing structures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess strong teamwork skills and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Must have the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced live event environment.
  • Deep knowledge of current pop culture, music, trending news, and live entertainment landscapes.
  • Familiarity with audio equipment, music software, and production workflows preferred.

PHYSICAL amp; MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use handle or feel, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, communicate with others.
  • The vision requirement includes the ability to review written and electronic materials in both digital and physical format.
  • The employee must be able to transfer and move items for departmental needs.
  • The employee must be able to adjust to changing work hours and locations as needed in light of the strong focus on external communications and relationships.
