Job description

The Model Maker Assistant (MMA) works in a team with the Exhibit Artists (EA), assisting them to complete the project based on direction from the Sr. Project Designer/Art Director (SPDAD), and the Supervising Art Director (SAD). This could include and not be limited to sculpting, mold making, casting, painting, assembly, detailing, finishing, 3D print model supporting, 3D print cleaning and on-site installation. This position will last for the duration of the Jerusalem Model Project and will end upon its installation.

The applicant must possess the ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining pleasant, flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Strong communication skills, decision-making, and attention to detail are important. They must work independently with little or no supervision.

This position will allow one to impact others through a service mindset centered on making an eternal difference. This position should display our Core Values of SERVE (Serve, Equip, Relate, Value, Engage) when interfacing with both internal and external customers to ensure that the message and mission of Answers in Genesis is portrayed in an effective and God-honoring fashion. Responsibilities

  • Promote the mission and standards of Answers in Genesis.
  • Create a SERVE culture environment in all work done.
  • Approach all tasks with a second mile mindset.
  • Prioritize personal integrity in all interactions and assignments.
  • Model making for the Jerusalem Model.
  • Work as part of a creative team and self-manage time versus output effectively.
  • Work with Fabrication and Design Teams on exhibit installation as needed.
  • And all other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Must agree with and be able to sign our Statement of Faith.
  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Regularly attends a local Bible-believing church.
  • Ensure adherence to quality and performance goals for the projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work well under pressure, determine priorities, and produce results.
  • Able to take on complex tasks and see them to the finish with little oversight.
  • Model painting experience or comparable mediums.
  • Model making with various materials and techniques or comparable mediums.
  • Mission focused and motivated.

Education & Experience

  • A degree in art is welcome but not required. A strong portfolio that demonstrates mastery of realism and substantial, relevant work experience is critical
