BEPC is actively looking for Senior Medical Content Writer, Claims, in the South San Francisco, California area!

W2 Contract โ€“ approximately 3 months with possible extensions!

Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance

Pay Rate: $58.20 โ€“ $68.20 /hour - Determined based on experience (Paid Weekly)

Work Model: Hybrid โ€“ Monday through Friday, 8:00 AMโ€“4:00 PM; onsite Tuesday through Thursday. Fully remote arrangements are not available.

Note: This is a W2 only role โ€” C2C, C2H will not be considered

Summary of the Role:

BEPC is seeking a highly motivated Senior Medical Content Writer, Claims to join our clientโ€™s site in South San Francisco, CA. This role will support the development, substantiation, and annotation of promotional and educational claims, as well as the medical content that carries themโ€”accurately, clearly, and in a way that can successfully navigate Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) review without losing its edge.

The Senior Medical Content Writer will work within an in-house creative studio alongside creative directors and designers. The writing must function as creative material, not solely as reference text. Various professional backgrounds may be considered; however, candidates with direct claims-development experience will be viewed as front-runners.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft, refine, develop, and substantiate promotional and non-promotional claims grounded in clinical data, prescribing information, and peer-reviewed literature.
  • Build annotated references and claim-substantiation packages ready for MLR submission.
  • Write medical content across multiple formats, including HCP materials, patient education, disease-state content, congress panels, digital assets, video scripts, and sales materials.
  • Ensure fair balance, accurate ISI integration, and on-label alignment in all promotional content.
  • Partner with medical affairs and regulatory reviewers to resolve claim language efficiently, anticipate objections, and proactively offer compliant alternatives.
  • Collaborate with creative directors and designers so copy and visual concepts develop together rather than sequentially.
  • Maintain claim libraries and reference databases to accelerate reuse across the portfolio.

Qualifications:

  • 5โ€“8 years of medical writing experience in pharma, biotech, or a medical communications agency.
  • Understanding of relevant regulations and MLR review processes.
  • Deep familiarity with what makes claims approvable, including substantiation standards, referencing conventions, and common reviewer objections.
  • Strong command of AMA style and the ability to read and accurately interpret clinical trial data, publications, and prescribing information.
  • Understanding of FDA/OPDP promotional regulations, fair-balance requirements, and ISI standards.
  • Ability to move between rigorous scientific accuracy and accessible, engaging language for different audiences, including healthcare professionals, patients, and internal audiences.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in referencing, annotation, and version control.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience developing, writing, and substantiating promotional or educational claims.
  • Advanced degree in life sciences, such as a PharmD, PhD, or MS, or equivalent scientific depth.
  • Experience with Veeva Vault PromoMats annotation workflows.
  • Oncology, immunology, or biologics therapeutic-area experience.
  • Experience working inside an in-house studio or embedded content team.
