Job description

We are seeking an experienced, collaborative, and student-focused Math Instructional Coach to support high-quality mathematics instruction at our Phoenix campus for the 2026/2027 academic year. This position will work with teachers across grade levels to strengthen instructional practices, improve student achievement, and support implementation of the school’s mathematics curriculum and Arizona academic standards.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished mathematics educator who communicates effectively, understands evidence-based instructional practices, and can build teachers’ capacity through collaborative, non-evaluative coaching and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Model effective mathematics lessons and evidence-based instructional strategies in classrooms.
  • Co-plan lessons with teachers and assist with curriculum planning and pacing.
  • Observe mathematics instruction and provide constructive, non-evaluative feedback. 
  • Help teachers implement the school’s mathematics curriculum and Arizona academic standards.
  • Provide targeted coaching and support to new and developing teachers.
    Plan and facilitate professional development sessions focused on mathematics instruction.
  • Lead grade-level or instructional meetings related to mathematics teaching and student achievement.
  • Train teachers on curriculum materials, instructional resources, and educational technology.
  • Analyze assessment data to identify student learning trends and areas for improvement.
  • Help teachers use student data to guide instruction and monitor academic progress.
  • Assist in developing mathematics intervention and enrichment plans.
    Support implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and Response to Intervention in mathematics.
  • Collaborate with interventionists and special education staff to address individual student needs.
  • Promote mathematical discourse, problem-solving, conceptual understanding, and student engagement.
  • Coordinate vertical alignment of mathematics instruction across grade levels.
  • Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and district leaders on school improvement initiatives. 
  • Stay current on research, instructional strategies, and best practices in mathematics education.
  • Perform other instructional support duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Mandatory Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Valid Arizona teaching certificate.
  • Several years of successful mathematics teaching experience in a K–12 educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of mathematics content, curriculum, instructional practices, and pedagogy.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze assessment data and translate findings into instructional strategies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong coaching, collaboration, facilitation, and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with teachers, administrators, and support staff. 
  • Ability to provide constructive, non-evaluative feedback while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in education, mathematics, curriculum and instruction, or a related field. 
  • Previous experience as an instructional coach, mathematics specialist, mentor teacher, or teacher leader.
  • Experience planning and facilitating professional development for educators.
    Knowledge of adult learning principles and effective instructional coaching practices.
  • Experience supporting mathematics interventions, MTSS, or RTI programs.
    Familiarity with Arizona mathematics standards and standards-aligned assessments.
  • Experience coordinating curriculum or instructional initiatives across grade levels.
