Role Overview

In this role, you are directly collaborating with the Deans of Instruction, your partner teachers, and the larger Atlas School team. You aim to bring your teaching experience to the next level of mastery. Aligned with Atlas mission, you will bring your drive, creativity, and growth mindset to help make Atlas vision a reality.


Job Summary

An Atlas Elementary School Math Teacher is a dedicated and passionate educator responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for elementary school students. This individual will teach foundational mathematical concepts, foster a love for learning, and contribute to the overall academic and personal development of students. In this role, you are directly collaborating with the Deans of Instruction, your partner teachers, and the larger Atlas School team.


Key Job Functions

Curriculum Implementation:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate math lessons to elementary school students.
  • Align instructional materials and activities with established curriculum standards.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students.

Classroom Management:

  • Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom culture.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to create a conducive learning environment.
  • Foster a sense of community and respect among students.

Assessment and Feedback:

  • Administer assessments to evaluate students' understanding of mathematical concepts.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to analyze assessment data and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.

Individualized Support:

  • Identify students who may need additional support in mathematics and implement targeted instruction.
  • Collaborate with special education and support staff to address the unique needs of individual students.

Incorporation of Technology:

  • Integrate technology tools and resources into the math curriculum to enhance learning experiences.
  • Utilize educational software and applications to reinforce mathematical concepts.
  • Stay current with technological advancements relevant to elementary math education.

Professional Development:

  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in math education.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and attend workshops or conferences to enhance teaching skills.

Parent and Community Engagement:

  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents regarding curriculum, student progress, and upcoming activities.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences and other school events.
  • Collaborate with the broader community to enhance students' learning experiences outside the classroom.

Collaboration with Colleagues:

  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, administrators, and support staff to create a cohesive learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Teaching credential or certification.
  • Possess a deep understanding of elementary-level mathematical concepts, curriculum standards, and instructional strategies.
  • Demonstrate effective teaching methods that engage students and facilitate their understanding of mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and styles of students in the classroom.
  • Possess strong classroom management skills to create a positive and conducive learning environment.
  • Stay updated on technological advancements and effectively integrate educational technology tools into math lessons.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

In order to teach at Atlas Public Schools, you must:

  • Provide an official transcript demonstrating graduating from an undergraduate institution
  • Provide evidence of passing the Elementary Education Multi-Content MEGA test including each of the following subtests:
    • 007 Elementary Education: English Language Arts Subtest
    • 008 Elementary Education: Mathematics Subtest
    • 009 Elementary Education: Science Subtest
    • 010 Elementary Education: Social Studies Subtest
    • Pass a background check complete Family Care Safety Registry
    • Demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States
