Experience Level: Mid–Senior | Setup Machinists
Industry: Aerospace, Defense, Heavy Manufacturing

---

Why This Role Exists

Bay Cast is growing and adding multiple CNC Setup Machinists to support increasing demand across aerospace, defense, and large-format machining programs.

This isn't repetitive production work. Bay Cast operates in a true high-mix machining environment where nearly every job is different. You'll help machine oversized, complex components—including rocket-related tooling and large structural parts—for customers that include major names in aerospace.

If you're a setup machinist who enjoys problem solving and wants work that stays interesting, this shop was built for it.

---

The Work You'll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Set up and operate CNC mills or lathes in a high-mix environment
  • Perform 1–2 setups per shift
  • Load programs and make edits at the machine as needed
  • Select tooling, set offsets, and verify setups
  • Read blueprints and inspect completed work
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust offsets, tooling, feeds, and speeds
  • Work closely with programmers and other machinists to improve efficiency
  • Safely handle large-format workpieces using overhead lifting equipment

Unlike production environments, you'll typically focus on one machine and one project at a time.

---

Machines, Controls & Software

You'll work with equipment including:

Machines:

  • Hyundai Wia Mills
  • Reco Mills
  • Faro Lathes
  • Large-format CNC machining equipment

Controls:

  • Fanuc

Software:

  • Mastercam

Inspection Equipment:

  • Standard precision inspection tools

---

Materials & Parts You'll Work With

You’ll machine large-format and complex components used across:

  • Aerospace
  • Defense
  • Civil engineering applications
  • Rocket tooling and oversized structures

Part sizes regularly include:

Mills: 3' x 10' and larger
Lathes: 6–8 ft diameter parts

---

What We're Looking ForRequired:

  • Experience as a CNC Setup Machinist
  • Strong understanding of setups, tooling, offsets, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Experience running mills or lathes
  • Comfortable working in a high-mix job shop environment
  • Reliable and safety-minded

Preferred (Not Required):

  • Fanuc experience
  • Mastercam exposure
  • Large-part machining experience
  • Overhead crane experience
  • Aerospace or defense manufacturing background

Bay Cast is open to machinists coming from either mill or lathe backgrounds and can train on specific equipment.

What matters most: true setup experience—not button pushing.

---

Why Machinists Like Working Here

Machinists choose Bay Cast because:

  • Nearly every job is different
  • Work on large-format aerospace and defense projects
  • Opportunity to support programs tied to companies like SpaceX and Blue Origin
  • One machine at a time—not bouncing between multiple cells
  • Growth-driven hiring with long-term opportunity
  • Modern equipment and Mastercam programming support
  • Flexible PTO negotiation for top talent

---

Pay, Benefits & SchedulePay:

$1,045 - $1,830/wk minimum (DOE)

PTO: Open to negotiation

  • Up to 72 hours accrued during Year 1
  • Increases to 80 hours after Year 2
  • Additional PTO earned over tenure
  • Top-tier machinists may negotiate PTO

Benefits package available during hiring process.
