SUMMARY

RF/Microwave Test Engineer - This work entails characterization and data reporting of front-end modules (FEMs) used in wireless RF applications. FEM designs involve the integration of a broad suite of Qorvo's RF technologies including, Power Amplifiers, Low noise amplifiers, multi-throw Switches, SAW and BAW filters. This position also requires development and support of various software applications and technologies for Windows and MacOS environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists design and test teams to achieve the optimal module performance including part bring up, test plan creation and full characterization using the latest state of the art in RF/microwave test equipment
  • Interface between Design Engineering and Characterization Engineering to review data to differentiate between test issues and performance issues
  • Delegate test tasks to other engineers/technicians as needed and follow up to ensure that work is completed following priorities discussed with Design Engineering team
  • Provide clear and concise reports using latest data analysis tools
  • Troubleshoot complex DC and RF test benches as needed during day-to-day operation
  • Develop/modify automated test equipment (ATE) software and hardware for special test situations not covered with existing routines working with other test and characterization engineers to expedite release
  • Develop/modify standalone applications used to aid in the post-processing and analysis of collected data or create new tools to implement automation
  • Lead and/or participate in cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement around test automation, accuracy, and speed
  • Document test system and software designs and help train other team members
  • Support lab improvements through 5S continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support bench and rack maintenance by working with hand tools as needed and be able to lift and move test equipment around the lab.
  • Follow effective RF connector care and RF measurement best practices as instructed.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MS in Computer Engineering OR Electrical Engineering or BS with equivalent exp required
  • 7+ years experience in testing and evaluation of RF/Microwave components and/or integrated modules in the RF semiconductor space required
  • Working knowledge of object-oriented programming languages such as C#, Python, VB.NET or equivalent required
  • Proficiency with test equipment such as vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators, noise figure meters, oscilloscopes, and/or digital multimeters is required 
  • Basic knowledge of DC and RF measurements such as S-parameters, power, noise figure, harmonics and other types of intermodulation distortion is required (specialized RF/Microwave training preferred)
  • Ability to use data visualization tools such as Spotfire, JMP or Excel and presentation tools such as PowerPoint
  • Strong collaboration skills and work ethic needed
  • Comfortable delegating work to other team members
  • Be able to switch between several assignments to keep forward progress
  • Self-starter and highly motivated individuals preferred
  • Effective organization skills for systematic planning and scheduling of projects and subtasks
  • Knowledge of digital modulation techniques used in CDMA, WCDMA and LTE phones and the associated measurements such as ACLR, EVM, SEM used in RF communication standards is preferred
