Job Description

Ingram Content Group (ICG) is hiring a Senior Integration Engineer. The Senior Integration Engineer drives the next generation of B2B and EDI integrations across our enterprise. In this role, you’ll serve as the technical SME for integrations and the surrounding ecosystem, including Sterling Integrator, Partner Engagement Manager (PEM), FileGPS, and related tools. You will lead partner onboarding, continuously tune and monitor high-volume transactions, and ensure that our global trading-partner community enjoys a smooth, secure, and reliable integration experience.

This role will also play a key part in reducing technical debt across our integration landscape—modernizing legacy processes, migrating outdated protocols, and helping us build a sustainable, scalable EDI ecosystem for the future.  This position will require 4 days in the office, candidates must be in or willing to relocate to the Nashville, TN region.

Want to help explore and build new ways to deliver content to the world?

At Ingram, our Technology team is blazing a trail by providing content distribution services to thousands of publishers with key initiatives around business intelligence, machine learning, continuous integration and omnichannel.  We support diverse people and technology that highlights innovation through SaaS platforms, metadata, cloud, and containerization.   Our teams are agile, and emphasize authenticity, creativity, and transparency upon a fact-based foundation.

The world is reading, and it is our goal to connect as many people as possible to the content they want in the simplest ways.  If you are an IT professional who strives to deliver results through collaborative partnerships, understanding what drives business, and enjoys working in a connected culture, we can’t wait to meet you!

The ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field or directly related experience.
  • 6+ years’ experience IT related programing and relational databases
  • 3+ years’ experience focused on Electronic Data Integration (EDI) with Sterling Integrator business-process design in high-volume environments.

We have a preference for:

Platforms & Tools

  • IBM Sterling B2B Integrator (v6.x+), Partner Engagement Manager
  • Strong understanding of Sterling adapters (FTP/S, HTTP/S, AS2, MQ, ODBC/JDBC)

Standards & Protocols

  • ANSI X12, EDIFACT, cXML, JSON, CSV
  • AS2, SFTP, REST APIs, VAN

Programming & Scripting

  • Java, SQL

Functional Background

  • Integrations with ERP, WMS, and other backend systems
  • Experience bridging internal and external partner systems using modern integration tooling

The Senior Integration Engineer’s key responsibilities are:

Legacy Modernization & Technical Debt Reduction

  • Lead and support initiatives to retire outdated or high‑maintenance systems and processes.
  • Modernize existing legacy integrations by rebuilding them as optimized, supportable workflows within Sterling Integrator.
  • Consolidate and migrate AS2 and SFTP connections into SI‑managed processes for better governance, reliability, and visibility.
  • Streamline older EDI/B2B workflows to improve performance, compliance, and long‑term sustainability.

Partner Lifecycle

  • Lead end‑to‑end onboarding/offboarding of trading partners: requirements, mapping, connectivity, certifications, and go‑live.
  • Maintain partner profiles, certificates, schedules, and SLAs.
  • Lead migration efforts during consolidations or technology upgrades.

Transaction Monitoring & Support

  • Monitor daily EDI/B2B traffic (X12, EDIFACT, XML/JSON, cXML, flat files) through dashboards, alerts, and custom reports.
  • Troubleshoot failures, perform root‑cause analysis, and develop permanent long‑term fixes.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, network, security, and business teams to resolve issues.

Mapping & Development

  • Design, develop, test, and optimize complex maps and SI business processes.
  • Refactor legacy mappings and migrate transactions into modern B2B systems.
  • Build reusable components and enforce mapping and development standards.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as technical contact for external partners and VANs; translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Comfortable engaging directly with customers and vendors, confidently leading discussions, driving meetings, and representing the integration team in both technical and business conversations.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to the 24×7 on‑call rotation.

Continuous Improvement

  • Track key KPIs (acknowledgement timeliness, error rates, cycle times).
  • Recommend automation, performance improvements, and modernization initiatives (API‑led B2B, SFTP migrations, PEM enhancements, etc.).
  • Evaluate emerging EDI/B2B tools and contribute to roadmap planning
