We're partnering with a wonderful school district in McHenry County, IL to hire a compassionate and student-centered School Social Worker for the 2026-2027 school year.
This rewarding opportunity allows you to make a meaningful impact on students' lives while working in a collaborative, student-focused environment. You will provide social-emotional support, address behavioral challenges, and partner with educators, administrators, and families to implement intervention strategies that foster student success. Position Details

  • Location: Onsite in McHenry County, IL

  • School Year: 2026-2027

  • Start Date: August 2026

  • Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday

  • Grade Level: Preschool

  • Work Setting: In-person (no virtual or hybrid options available)

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling services to students to support social, emotional, and behavioral development.

  • Conduct social-emotional and behavioral assessments and contribute to IEP and 504 plan development.

  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to implement intervention strategies and positive behavior supports.

  • Support crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and attendance improvement initiatives.

  • Consult with families to connect them with school and community-based resources.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with state, federal, and district regulations.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to a supportive, inclusive school climate.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Social Worker endorsement

  • Experience working with students in a school setting preferred

  • Knowledge of child development, social-emotional learning, and behavioral interventions

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
