HR Generalist

Human Resource Generalist (Bilingual)

About the Role

We are looking for a bilingual Human Resources Generalist to support our plant operations and serve as a trusted resource for employees and management. This role combines hands-on HR administration with employee relations, recruiting, compliance, benefits support, and workforce engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate is highly organized, approachable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while helping create a positive employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Administration & Recruitment

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for employees, providing guidance and support on HR-related questions and concerns.
  • Maintain employee records, personnel files, and HR systems while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Review applications, screen candidates, and coordinate recruiting activities for open positions.
  • Schedule and facilitate interviews with hiring managers and supervisors.
  • Manage the onboarding process, including pre-employment screenings, new hire documentation, orientation, and employment verification requirements.
  • Assist with E-Verify and I-9 compliance.
  • Represent the company at job fairs, community events, workforce development programs, and recruiting initiatives.
  • Coordinate staffing efforts and temporary labor resources as needed.

Benefits, Payroll & Leave Administration

  • Support employees with benefits-related questions, enrollment, and claims processes.
  • Act as a liaison between employees and benefit providers.
  • Assist with payroll administration and ensure accurate employee timekeeping records.
  • Track attendance, leaves of absence, and accommodations, including FMLA and ADA-related matters.

Employee Relations

  • Build positive relationships throughout the organization and serve as a trusted point of contact for workplace concerns.
  • Investigate employee issues and complaints while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with management to resolve employee relations matters fairly and consistently.
  • Provide guidance regarding performance management, discipline, policy interpretation, and corrective actions.

Performance Management & Training

  • Partner with supervisors and managers on performance reviews, employee development, and goal setting.
  • Support training programs and professional development initiatives.
  • Track and assist with performance improvement plans and coaching efforts.
  • Deliver employee training sessions related to HR programs, benefits, policies, payroll, and compliance topics.

Employee Engagement & Culture

  • Support programs that promote employee satisfaction, recognition, teamwork, and retention.
  • Coordinate employee appreciation events, engagement activities, and team-building initiatives.
  • Gather employee feedback through surveys and recommend strategies to improve the workplace experience.
  • Help foster a respectful, inclusive, and positive work environment aligned with company values.

Compliance & Policy Administration

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee and company information.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Stay informed of changes in employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Assist with audits, reporting requirements, and HR compliance initiatives.
  • Support the consistent application of company policies and attendance standards.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in HR projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Research, organize, and implement special assignments as needed.
  • Maintain organized and professional work areas.
  • Continue professional development through training and industry resources.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Fluent in both English and Spanish, including speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Experience working with HRIS platforms and employee data management systems.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, and Department of Labor requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to professionalism and respect.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of Human Resources experience.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, food processing, or industrial environment is preferred but not required.
