WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We seek a talented and versatile Freelance Reporter/Anchor to join our team. In this dynamic role, you will play a critical role in informing and engaging our viewers with the latest developments in the ever-evolving world of business and technology.

EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Business, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in broadcast journalism, with a strong focus on business and/or technology reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting on-camera interviews and delivering engaging reports.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and error-free copy.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly identify and understand complex information.
  • A history of working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with business and technology terminology and concepts

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Investigate and report on a wide range of business and technology stories, including breaking news, in-depth features, and investigative pieces.
  • Conduct thorough research to gather accurate and insightful information, utilizing various sources like press releases, industry reports, company filings, and interviews with key figures.
  • Develop and write compelling news scripts and guest questions that are informative, engaging, and adhere to journalistic standards.
  • Conduct on-camera interviews with business leaders, industry experts, and other relevant individuals, asking insightful questions to draw out valuable information.
  • Deliver clear, concise, and accurate reports on-air, both in the studio and on location, demonstrating strong on-camera presence and delivery.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and developments across the business and technology landscape.
  • Collaborate effectively with other members of the news team, including producers, editors, and other reporters, to develop and deliver high-quality content.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with sources and interview subjects.
  • A natural on-camera presence with strong presentation and delivery skills.

Bachelor's degree required

COMPENSATION

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York, Cheddar includes a reasonable estimate of the salary for this role. This accounts for the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience and training, licensure, and certifications. 
The salary range for this role is $65 to $75 per hour.
