What is a Freelance Flutter job?

A Freelance Flutter job involves developing mobile, web, or desktop applications using Flutter, Google's UI toolkit, on a project-by-project basis. Freelancers work independently or contract with clients to build cross-platform apps using a single codebase. They are responsible for coding, debugging, UI design, and sometimes deployment. This role offers flexibility in work hours and project selection but requires strong technical skills and self-discipline to manage deadlines and client expectations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Freelance Flutter position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Freelance Flutter developer, you need a solid grasp of Dart programming, Flutter framework fundamentals, and mobile app development best practices, ideally supported by a relevant degree or project portfolio. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, UI/UX design tools such as Figma or Adobe XD, and official Flutter certification can further enhance your credibility. Effective communication, self-motivation, and problem-solving skills are essential for managing client relationships and delivering high-quality results independently. These skills ensure you can efficiently build, maintain, and deploy cross-platform apps while meeting client expectations in a dynamic, remote-work environment.

What are some common challenges faced by Freelance Flutter developers, and how can they be addressed?

Freelance Flutter developers often encounter challenges such as managing multiple client projects simultaneously, staying updated with the latest Flutter updates, and ensuring consistent app performance across both iOS and Android platforms. Navigating differing client requirements and communication styles can also be demanding, especially without a dedicated project management team. Building strong organizational habits, investing time in ongoing learning, and utilizing project management tools like Trello or Asana can help you overcome these hurdles. Proactively communicating progress and setting clear expectations with clients are key strategies to succeed in this flexible but demanding role.

Job description

Company Description

Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH) is a world-famous creative agency that makes jaw-dropping, thumb-stopping, eye-opening work for brands across the globe. Founded in London in 1982, we now have offices in New York, Los Angeles, Stockholm, Mumbai, Singapore and Shanghai. Our first ad for Levi's showed a black sheep traveling in the opposite direction to a flock of white ones. That's where we got our logo and our guiding philosophy: when the world zigs, zag. Why? Because it's easy to zig, to go with the grain. It feels safe. It feels like the sensible thing to do. But the greater risk is failing to stand out. We believe in the power of difference to make a difference.

Our goal is a simple one: make the best work in the world. That's where you come in. We need rebels, dreamers, thinkers, mathematicians, makers, artists, visionaries, doers, observers, the different and the unreasonable. We need Black Sheep. People who want to make the hearts flutter and minds do flips, who can change businesses and culture. People who want to make a difference, come here for something different.

The Designer will aid in building out campaigns and connects with all BBH brands.

Responsibilities
  • Understanding of how a campaign is built and what's required, we usually build comps, proofs of concepts in the initial creative development to present a 360 campaign. Oftentimes we then build out campaign guidelines for certain projects
  • This Designer will get their hands dirty, will be helping with deck templates (the whole design team does this too).
  • This Designer will touch all of our brands - people here aren't tied to any one account. We always aim to staff people based on their strengths and interests/opportunities wherever possible.
  • Starting to use Figma here - ideally this Designer knows or understands the program or open to learning.
Qualifications
  • Ideally around 3 years experience, we want this Designer to be able to take projects without too much hand holding, but still space to grow and build with our team.
