Job description

Position Overview:

As the Controller, you will play a critical role in overseeing and managing all financial operations within the company. You will be responsible for financial statement preparation and review, integrating new systems and processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and managing external audits. This is a hands-on position that requires a strong understanding of accounting practices, a growth mindset, and the ability to collaborate with ownership and the executive team to shape the company’s financial direction.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Statement Preparation and Review: Prepare and review accurate financial statements on a regular basis to ensure they reflect the true financial position of the company.
  • Oversee Daily Transactions: Manage and review daily financial transactions to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company policies.
  • Systems Integration: Lead efforts to integrate accounting and financial systems that support company growth and streamline processes.
  • Establish Processes and Procedures: Develop and implement financial processes, procedures, and internal controls to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
  • GAAP Compliance: Ensure that the company adheres to all generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and maintains compliance with relevant regulations.
  • External Audit Review: Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and assist in preparing for audits.
  • Financial Status Presentation: Present the company’s financial status and performance to ownership, the executive team, and board members in a clear and concise manner.
  • Treasury Management: Oversee cash management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to ensure liquidity and support strategic decisions.
  • Support Company Growth: Contribute to the establishment of the company's financial foundation while supporting its ongoing expansion and scaling efforts.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, with a focus on manufacturing and distribution industries (startup experience is a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with financial system integration and process development.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.) and Microsoft Excel.
