Job description

Responsibilities:

  1. Installation and Deployment:
    • Install and deploy fiber optic cables, including both aerial and underground installations, following company standards and safety protocols.
  2. Splicing and Terminations:
    • Perform fiber optic splicing, terminations, and connectorization to ensure proper signal transmission and connectivity.
  3. Testing and Troubleshooting:
    • Conduct testing and troubleshooting of fiber optic cables and systems using specialized equipment such as OTDRs and optical power meters to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  4. Maintenance and Repairs:
    • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on fiber optic infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  5. Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of fiber optic installations, repairs, and maintenance activities, including cable routes, splice locations, and test results.
  6. Safety Compliance:
    • Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations while working with fiber optic cables, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  7. Customer Interaction:
    • Interact with customers professionally and courteously, addressing their inquiries and concerns related to fiber optic services.
  8. Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with team members, including project managers, engineers, and other technicians, to coordinate work activities and ensure project deadlines are met.
  9. Continuous Learning:
    • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to fiber optics through training and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training in fiber optics preferred.
  • Proven experience working as a fiber optic technician or in a related field.
  • Proficiency in fiber optic splicing, terminations, and testing techniques.
  • Familiarity with fiber optic equipment and tools, including fusion splicers, cleavers, and OTDRs.
  • Strong understanding of fiber optic cabling standards and protocols.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in various weather conditions and environments.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
