Job description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

High School Diploma or GED Certificate.

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental or related field

3 years' experience in biological resource management, environmental resource management, environmental assessment and planning, or related field

Utility experience preferred.

Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle record review).


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

Acquires necessary permits from appropriate agencies to conduct biological surveys for utility projects.

Reviews, interprets, and communicates biological evaluation reports submitted by the consultant for utility projects.

Researches, conducts field surveys, evaluates habitat(s), records, and maps biological resources, and writes biological evaluations reports and/or request compliances for proposed actions related to utility projects.

Coordinates and schedules biological resource surveys with consultants.

Monitors and tracks progress of biological evaluation requests.

Communicates with various stakeholders (i.e. federal, state, and local agencies, government, and private owners) to support the defined objectives of the utility company and proposed projects.

Prepare written, oral, tabular, and graphic reports summarizing requirements and regulations, including enforcement.

Knowledgeable with biological and environmental resource policies and procedures on the Navajo Nation.

Knowledgeable with federal, state, and tribal laws associated with biological resources and environmental regulations.

Conducts research and writes Environment Assessments for proposed actions related to utility projects.

Conducts on-site monitoring and inspections ensuring compliance with conditions set forth by regulating agency.

Conducts and develops presentations for various departments regarding compliance and/or policies that affect projects.

Observes safety rules and ensures and maintains a safe and orderly environment.

Represents NTUA at meetings with customers, consultants, contractors, and other outside agencies.

Performs other duties as assigned.
