In addition to technical skills, they often handle client communications, project management, and sometimes minor machine maintenance. Freelance operators may work from home or travel to different locations, providing flexible services to fashion designers, apparel companies, or individual customers.

Freelance embroidery machine operators typically charge between $10 and $20 per 1,000 stitches, depending on the complexity of the design, skill level, and equipment used. Building strong organizational habits and keeping backup supplies on hand can help operators navigate these challenges effectively.
