Job description

Our client is a growing general contractor based in Mount Prospect, IL, delivering a diverse portfolio of federal, municipal, and commercial construction projects throughout the region.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to add an experienced Electrical Project Manager to their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong electrical construction background who enjoys taking ownership of projects and working in a collaborative, growing environment.


Position Overview

The Electrical Project Manager will be responsible for managing electrical scopes of work from preconstruction through project closeout, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.


The ideal candidate will have experience managing commercial, federal, municipal, or institutional electrical projects and be comfortable coordinating subcontractors, vendors, field teams, clients, and other project stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage electrical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and documentation.
  • Coordinate electrical subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and field personnel.
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, and scopes of work.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and project correspondence.
  • Coordinate electrical work with the GC, field teams, engineers, architects, and other trades.
  • Monitor project costs, labor, materials, and overall financial performance.
  • Work closely with Superintendents and field teams to ensure projects remain on schedule.
  • Communicate regularly with owners, clients, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop solutions to keep projects moving forward.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with contract documents, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide regular project updates.
  • Assist with estimating, budgeting, and preconstruction activities when required.
  • Manage project closeout, including punch lists, as-builts, warranties, and final documentation.


Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical construction project management preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commercial, federal, municipal, or institutional electrical construction.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, vendors, schedules, budgets, and project documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong knowledge of RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project controls.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with construction/project management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Electrical engineering, construction management, or related education is a plus.
