Job description

Job Title: Electrical Distribution Designer/Project Manager Location: Edina, Minnesota Type: 12 month Contract Compensation: $30.00 - $31.50 per hour Work Model: Hybrid โ€“ onsite and remote

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects from initial customer contact through post project analysis, establishing and overseeing construction work plans to meet customer schedules, design requirements, and budgetary constraints
  • Design safe operating facilities for new and existing customers in accordance with Xcel Energy standards, providing distribution design project management for the least complex areas of design
  • Obtain permits and easements for facilities, ensuring compliance with city ordinances, state, federal, and county agencies
  • Execute contracts and agreements in line with administrative and regulatory requirements
  • Represent the company with government officials, contractors, city agencies, vendors, architects, and engineers to deliver excellent customer service
  • Support the design and management of distribution projects, including GIS-based distribution work, project lifecycle management, and coordination with internal teams
  • Perform site visits and field inspections, including equipment inspection and customer meetings, utilizing PPE provided and following safety protocols

Requirements

  • Entry-level experience (0โ€“3 years) in electrical, GIS, mapping, project management, or construction
  • Associate degree required
  • Electrical distribution design experience preferred
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally within a collaborative team environment
  • Construction or utility background is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS software
  • Willingness to support occasional after-hours work during emergency situations
  • Ability to travel approximately 30% to sites and manage reimbursable expenses such as mileage
