What is a freelance content creator?

Freelance content creators are self-employed professionals who produce various types of digital content, such as articles, videos, social media posts, graphics, or podcasts, for clients or their own online platforms. They typically work on a project-by-project basis rather than as full-time employees. Freelance content creators are responsible for generating ideas, creating engaging materials, and often handling editing and publishing tasks. Their clients can range from businesses and marketing agencies to individual entrepreneurs or brands. This role requires creativity, adaptability, and strong communication skills.

What does a freelance content creator do?

As a freelance content creator, you contract with a client to develop marketing and promotional materials that advertise a product or service. In these jobs, you may write blog posts, newsletters, articles, sales collateral, and similar materials, but some clients require graphics, video, or multimedia content, so you can also get involved in visual projects. Your responsibilities include collaborating with knowledge leaders at your client’s company to ensure that the content you develop is accurate and engaging, and you also work with marketing strategists and sales teams to align your content with the company’s messaging, branding, and growth strategies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a freelance content creator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Freelance Content Creator, you need strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, often developed through relevant experience or a background in communications, journalism, or marketing. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), SEO tools, social media platforms, and graphic design software is typically required. Outstanding time management, adaptability, and self-motivation help set top freelancers apart in a competitive market. These skills ensure the creation of engaging, high-quality content that meets client needs and drives audience engagement.

What are some common challenges freelance content creators face when managing multiple client projects?

Freelance content creators often juggle projects for different clients, which can lead to challenges like balancing varying deadlines, adapting to different brand voices, and managing communication across several stakeholders. Staying organized is crucial, as is setting clear expectations with clients about timelines, revisions, and deliverables. Many content creators find success by using project management tools, maintaining a detailed calendar, and proactively communicating progress to ensure all projects move forward smoothly.

Job description

Head of Growth Marketing for Luxe Du Jour

About the role

LDJ is bringing marketing in-house to move faster, spend smarter, and tie every dollar to results. We're looking for a senior, AI-fluent growth marketer who can own the entire marketing engine, paid, email, campaigns, and data, and use AI to operate with the output of a full team. You'll report directly to the CEO and own the number that matters: profitable sales growth through marketing.

This is a builder's role for someone who's tired of agencies overcharging and underdelivering, and wants to prove what a sharp operator with modern tools can actually do.

What you'll own

  • Paid acquisition: Plan, launch, and optimize Google and Meta campaigns. Own budget allocation, targeting, creative testing, and ROAS. Know where every dollar goes and what it returns.
  • Email & lifecycle marketing: Own the flows and automations, build and optimize campaign sends, and turn our list into a reliable revenue channel.
  • Campaign orchestration: Plan and execute promotional campaigns end to end, brief creative, build collection and landing pages, and coordinate launch timing with the dev and sales teams.
  • Data & optimization: Analyze performance across channels, review site UX/UI for conversion, identify where we're losing sales, and act on it. Report results to me clearly and regularly.
  • Content direction: Own the content strategy and monthly calendar, direct scripting and creative, and manage content execution (in-house creator, freelancers, or AI-assisted). You direct and quality-control content, not necessarily film it all yourself.
  • Top-of-funnel & sales alignment: Work with the sales team to make sure the leads marketing generates are handled well at the top of the funnel, and that marketing and sales are pulling in the same direction.
  • AI leverage: Use AI tools across all of the above, creative generation, copy, analysis, briefing, reporting, to do the work of a team without the headcount or the burnout.

What you bring

  • Proven e-commerce growth marketing experience, ideally in fashion, luxury, or high-AOV DTC
  • Hands-on mastery of Meta and Google Ads with real ROAS results you can point to
  • Strong email/lifecycle marketing experience (Klaviyo or similar)
  • Genuine fluency with AI marketing tools, this is central, not a nice-to-have
  • Analytical, comfortable living in the data and making decisions from it
  • Shopify familiarity
  • A builder mentality: scrappy, fast, and motivated by results and ownership
  • AI experience and leverage to work more efficiently

What success looks like

  • Marketing-driven sales growth month over month
  • Improved ROAS vs. our current agency spend
  • Healthy, converting email channel
  • Lower cost per acquisition and clear attribution on where sales come from
