QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalency preferred

EXPERIENCE: On the job training provided, Previous manufacturing or foundry experience preferred, Previous experience using CNC machines, band saws, DeWalt saws, hand routers, reciprocating saws, and skill saws preferred.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Must have good vision, hearing, and hand-eye coordination. Must be able to follow written work instructions. Must be able to multitask and meet production goals and deadlines. Must be team-oriented and have good communication skills. Must have great attention to detail. Must be able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis. Must be able to grip, push, and pull with 80lb strength on a regular basis. Must be able to generate 15lbs of pinch strength on occasion. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical. Must be able to perform elevated work on an occasional basis. Some tasks require repetitive activities. Must be able to stand on concrete up to 8 hours. Must be willing to cross-train within the classification. Must be able to follow all safety rules and wear all required personal protective equipment. Must be able to work any shift. Must be able to maintain a clean workstation and clean equipment. Rough Clean includes Knockout, Machine Trim, and Saw.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Knockout

  • Must be able to operate a wheelabrator, C3, and sand blast equipment.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift and a bobcat per OSHA guidelines.
  • Must be able to operate hand tools and pneumatic tooling for removing sand from tubes and pipes.
  • Must be able to remove sand from castings and prepare to bakeout.
  • Must be able to remove chills and send back to chill room.

Machine Trim

  • Must be able to operate CNC machines.
  • Must be able to identify casting placed into the CNC Machine and use correct programming to ensure casting is cleaned and cut to the specification of the work instruction.
  • Must be able to operate and had router for detailing and removing excess materials from the casting in compliance with the work instructions and customer requirements.
  • Must be able to keep the equipment and workstation clean to ensure the equipment works properly.
  • Must be able to work independently but have good communication with multiple departments and engineering.
  • Must be able to set up and identify CNC machine is operating correct to ensure damage to the casting does not happen.

Saw

  • Must be able to operate a DeWalt saw for making horizontal cuts.
  • Must be able to remove metal gating and risers from a casting using band saws, skill saws, and reciprocating saws.
  • Must be able to identify scrap metal and sort by alloy and color charts for recycling.
  • Must be able to work in a team to ensure that the casting is not destroyed in the process and follow good safety to minimize the risk of injuries.
  • Must be able to wear proper footwear, safety glasses, hood, and hearing protection.
