Job description


The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. Our collaborative, cross-functional teams are committed to innovation, integrity, continual learning and strong execution.
What You'll Do:
  • Design, fabricate, assemble, troubleshoot, and repair complex electromechanical systems integrating RF, digital control, and mechanical interfaces.
  • Use SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and other CAD tools to generate and revise 3D models and 2D production drawings.
  • Program and operate manual and CNC machines using Mastercam for fabrication of precision components.
  • Perform high-reliability soldering for PCB and harness assemblies, including surface-mount and through-hole components.
  • Support the assembly and integration of prototype systems, including enclosures, test fixtures, and mechanical structures.
  • Interpret, revise, and redline technical drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and staff to iterate on designs, improve manufacturability, and resolve technical issues.
  • Document fabrication processes, design changes, and test data with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Contribute to RF design improvements based on feedback from system testing and prototype evaluations.
  • Safety glasses will always be required while in the machine shop. Other PPE will be highly recommended or required depending on the task at hand.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods, lift materials up to 50 lbs, and handle repetitive tasks while maintaining high attention to detail.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

Required Skills and Education
  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 3 years or more related experience.
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor's or Master's, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Experience operating CNC and manual machines (vertical mills, lathes, bandsaws, routers, etc.).
  • Knowledge of RF and electronic systems, including key performance metrics.
  • knowledge of polymeric materials, adhesives, bonding agents, and sealing methods.
  • Expertise in electrical and RF test equipment, including independent setup and troubleshooting using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, DVMs, network analyzers, RF diagnostics and antenna tuning.
  • Experience in PCB and PAB fabrication and assembly, including fine-pitch soldering, rework, and board-level troubleshooting.
  • Experience in RF and radar cross-section (RCS) range testing, including setup, calibration, data collection, and analysis in collaboration with engineering teams.

A DoW Interim Secret clearance will be required to start work and required to be maintained to continue work. Higher level clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
As this position requires operating a company vehicle, an offer and subsequent employment are contingent upon possessing and maintaining a valid US driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record review.
Preferred Skills and Education
  • Hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication, metal finishing, and the use of body filler for prototype housing and enclosure builds.
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610 standards
  • Skilled with various hand and power tools
  • Proven ability to apply cross-disciplinary fabrication skills (e.g., auto mechanics, auto body work, carpentry).
