Position Overview:

The CNC Programmer/Operator will create programs for CNC routing and will do woodworking for custom play elements, as well as create and affix wooden bases to play pieces and prepare items for fiberglass. This job will also perform hands-on work, building custom products from wood, plastics, and various materials utilizing saws, CNC machine and other tools.


Position Location:

Position is onsite Monday through Friday (7AM-3:30PM) and not remote eligible


Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Program and operate the CNC machine to the specifications of the customer's order using drawings, work orders, or blueprints to determine the characteristics of the finished item, materials to be used, and machine setup requirements.
  • Produce a high quality replication of the shop illustration.
  • Program and operate the CNC.
  • Build crates, base platforms, rule signs and other elements to specifications.
  • Make simple repairs, if required, by using a handheld air or electric grinder.
  • Support (hands on as necessary) in production to the specifications of the customer's order using drawings, blueprints and routing instructions to determine the characteristics of the finished item.
  • Use, maintain and clean saws, blades, sanders, spray guns, knives, and other equipment as required.
  • Maintain records of labor time and materials used, and record appropriately.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area; observe and implement proper safety practices.
  • Attend cross-department meetings to collaborate with design and engineering on detail drawings.
  • Ensure proper safeguards are used for all aspects of your role.
  • Store materials as per industry standards and OSHA recommendations.
  • Work independently with little supervision.
  • Ensure pieces are built to specs and meet production schedule, and meet quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Education or GED
  • 3 or more years working with CNC routers and CAM software
  • Ability to program and operate CNC machines.
  • Familiar with cutting tools and methods for machine optimization.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • A strong understanding and grasp of cutting, sanding, and patterning is required.
  • Significant experience and proficiency with hand held cutting tools and table saws is required.
  • Ability to understand production drawings, build to specifications, understand and apply safety standards and procedures.
  • A working knowledge of AUTOCAD 2008 or higher, CAD/CAM Software (ArtCam is a plus)


Working Conditions:

  • Carrying, pushing or pulling parts to area.
  • Lifting and bending frequently.
  • Steel toed shoes are required at all times when in production area.
  • Safety Glasses are required at all times when in production area.
  • Hearing protection is required only in specified areas.
