Job description

Grand Valley Manufacturing is seeking a 1st Shift CNC Machine Operator to join our Titusville, PA team. The 1st Shift CNC Operator will be responsible for the correct setup and operation of CNC Mill Turns or Lathes to produce parts up to 24" in diameter and 13' long.
Role and Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, routing instructions, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of piece of work, sequence operations, and setup requirements.
  • Independently perform set-up of the machine, choosing the correct programs, cutting tools, and feeds/speeds.
  • Monitor the machining process, checking parts throughout the run, making necessary adjustments to conform to specifications and maintaining tight tolerances throughout run.
  • Observe machine operation to predict or detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining conditions and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
  • Able to make minor changes to cutting programs to account for problems encountered during operation and save modified programs.
  • Verify that all machined details are produced in a manner that meets router specifications.
  • Able to read, interpret, and edit G-Code.
  • Correctly document all required information for the production process.
  • Correctly use micrometers and calipers to read measurements; able to use a dial indicator to line up a shaft in a machine and determine straightness
  • Perform safe lifting and maneuvering of parts utilizing hoists, overhead crane, jib crane, and/or forklift.
  • Monitor and maintain proper cleanliness of machine and work area

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Requires a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, Technical degree in Machining preferred. Minimum of 5-10 Years of CNC Machining Experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Skills
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tools, and CNC machine operation.
  • Strong mathematical skills and analytical abilities
  • Able to clearly communicate with other operators, engineers, programmers, plant managers, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Experience with common inspection tools (calipers, tape measure, micrometers, etc.)
  • Blueprint reading

Works in a manufacturing environment and is exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles. The employee will be required to wear eye, foot, and/or other personal protective equipment while performing duties. May on a frequent basis squat, climb, push/pull objects, lift up to 25 lbs., and use hands/fingers for grasping and reaching. May on an occasional basis bend at the waist; reach above the shoulder; turn or twist body; lift up to 50 lbs.; carry up to 35 lbs.; and use hands/fingers for fine manipulation. The noise level in the work environment is usually medium to loud.
Additional Notes
Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Full-time work week is 40-55 hours, Monday - Friday, 10-hour days Monday - Thursday. 12-hour shifts are sometimes required to meet delivery schedules. Saturdays (1/2 days) as needed.
