Mechanical Design Engineer – Thermal Systems
Saint Paul, MN | Direct Hire | $110,000-$125,000 (Flexible) + Bonus

Konik is partnering with an innovative engineering and manufacturing company seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of advanced thermal management solutions for high-performance electronic systems and equipment. This role focuses on designing, modeling, prototyping, and testing custom cooling solutions while collaborating with engineering teams, customers, and project stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong mechanical design background with experience in heat transfer, thermodynamics, refrigeration systems, and thermal modeling. This is an opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and contributing to products from concept through full lifecycle development.

Mechanical Design Engineer – Thermal Systems Responsibilities

  • Design and develop custom thermal cooling solutions for high-power electronic systems, equipment, and test platforms.
  • Perform thermal analysis, modeling, and design optimization using engineering tools such as CFD software.
  • Support product development efforts through design reviews, prototyping, testing, and validation activities.
  • Provide technical guidance on thermal design, heat transfer, refrigeration systems, and cooling applications.
  • Develop and improve mechanical designs to meet product specifications, regulatory requirements, and performance standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, customer service, and project teams to resolve technical challenges and incorporate customer feedback.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process improvements and developing engineering solutions.
  • Maintain technical expertise related to thermal management, electromechanical systems, and equipment design.

Mechanical Design Engineer – Thermal Systems Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 4+ years of mechanical design engineering experience.
  • Experience with heat transfer, thermodynamics, thermal management, or cooling system design.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and product development processes.
  • Experience managing multiple engineering projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and communication abilities.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software preferred.
  • Experience with CFD tools, thermal modeling, refrigeration systems, water chillers, or manufacturing systems preferred.
  • Experience designing electromechanical assemblies and working within ERP/manufacturing systems is a plus.
