AIRPORT OPERATIONS MANAGER

Aviation & Transportation Department – Portland International Jetport

The Portland International Jetport is on the lookout for an Airport Operations Manager who is driven, dynamic, and ready to lead a talented team. As PWM's Operations Manager, you’ll supervise a team of developing aviation professionals, including 2 Operations Supervisors, 6 Airport Operations Duty Officers, and 9 Airport Operations Coordinators. This key leadership role reports directly to the Deputy Director of Operations and Maintenance, offering you a chance to make a lasting impact at one of the most forward-thinking airports in the region.

Who We’re Looking For:
  • A strong, positive people leader, with proven experience coaching, mentoring, and developing a team of aviation professionals, as this position includes the hiring, training, and management of the PWM Airport Ops Team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as this role is the point person for collaborative work and contact with local, state, and federal governmental stakeholders, including: all airport divisions, the Portland Police Department, ARFF, federal agencies, such as the FAA and TSA, airport tenants, our FBO, and the general public.
  • Proactive, forward-thinking, problem solver who listens, embraces change, and fosters a positive work culture.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle the fast-paced, ever-changing airport environment.
  • Your expertise in compliance will ensure your success as you oversee the Airport Certification Manual, Airport Security Program, Airport Emergency Plan, the 24/7/365 Airport Operations Center, and the Wildlife Hazard Management Plan. Other duties include leading the Airport snow removal operations, oversight of FBO compliance with aircraft and fuel farm safety standards, as well as hiring, training, and supervising Airport Operations Staff, including conducting their performance reviews and making disciplinary/promotion recommendations.
Position requirements include:
  • Ability to pass all required background investigations including TSA Criminal Background clearance (TSR Part 1542) to obtain an airport security badge
  • Able to maintain a valid Class C Maine Driver’s License.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Management or related field, or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training;
  • A minimum of two (2) years of professional work experience leading a team at a commercial service airport in the airport operations field conducting FAR Part 139 airfield inspections and issuing NOTAMs.

This is a non union position, Grade C45, with a starting pay range of $89,054.00/year - $106,329.00/year, based on relevant years of commercial airport operations experience.
