Outlier is the world's leading expert platform to improve AI models by providing expert human feedback. We partner with companies including Meta to enable advanced generative AI models to provide accurate responses and advanced reasoning capabilities.
Outlier is seeking Mathematics experts to refine the logical reasoning and problem-solving capabilities of next-generation frontier models (including Meta's latest releases). You won't just be "checking work"-you'll be architecting the ground-truth data that teaches AI to think.
  • Synthesize high-complexity problem sets that push the limits of current LLM reasoning
  • Develop and answer Math-related questions to refine AI understanding
  • Evaluate and author complex reasoning traces to ensure models follow logical, step-by-step proofs
  • Assess and rank AI responses based on scientific rigor

Required expertise and qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics or a closely related field (can be currently enrolled)
  • LaTeX Proficiency for technical documentation and formula rendering
  • English Proficiency: Ability to read and write with minimal errors
  • Research Experience: Strong preference for candidates with peer-reviewed publications, patents, conference presentations, research grants, or industry R&D contributions

Payment:
  • Base pay: Earn up to USD $50 per hour for core project work
  • Additional incentives: On average, Outlier Contributors earn an additional 7.5% on top of the core project rates through Missions - Outlier's version of surge pricing. The top quartile of contributors boost their earnings by an average of 11%.
  • Rates vary based on expertise, skills assessment, location, project need, and other factors. For example, higher rates may be offered to PhDs. Additional incentives data is based on payments made in the past six months and is updated quarterly. Please review the payment terms for each project.
